Switching out of Ag College

I’m probably going to stay as food science, but was wondering if this part on the website meant I can start taking another major’s classes while technically in food science.

[Cal Poly CAFES : Advising : Changing/Choosing a Major](http://cafes.calpoly.edu/Advising/changemajor.asp#outof)

“If you feel that you will be able to meet these requirements in a reasonable amount of time (three quarters), meet with your current department head to negotiate the terms of being able to pursue a different curriculum.”

Would that mean say I decide to change majors during the summer, I can negotiate with the head of my department a contract so I could take the desired major’s classes instead of food science?

Thanks

Anyone?

Sorry for the bother.

No Bother SoCal70, I just don’t know much about this.

We hope that my son likes his chosen major, but you never really know. From what I can tell, changing within your department is easier than getting into another school altogether. I think it would be hard to keep on track with your chosen major and take classes outside of that major. Hopefully you will love the major you chose and it won’t matter, but i would expect that you can work with an advisor about it.
