Switching out of DGS after acceptance?!

I initially applied to DGS because i was undecided between going into business or psychology. however, i've had some time and i know that i want to go into business administration now. if i'm accepted to DGS this friday, would it be possible for me to switch to business? i don't want to waste a whole year "exploring my options" if i already know what i want to do, especially since i'm OOS.

any advice please idk how to fix this!

You can’t just switch into business. You will have to take courses freshman year that relate to business and transfer into the school. Also your gpa will have to be atleast a 3.0. But most of the kids that apply usually have a gpa around 3.5 and above. So you better work hard and get a 3.5 or above.

Yes, it’s possible but I don’t think it’s a good idea. On there website it says if your’re admitted during the priority application period and decide you want to request to change your major you will forfeit your current acceptance.

Here’s a link to where I got the information from [U</a> of I Admissions: Admitted FAQ](Page Not Found, Illinois Undergraduate Admissions)

If accepted DGS Friday, it would be very unwise to try to switch by Jan 12 and give up your sure admission. DGS is the usual alternative to which many are admitted who are rejected by business college. If you give up DGS admission to go for business and then are rejected by business regular decision, they won’t have an alternative to go to because they will not consider you again for DGS.

Other than that switch by Jan 12, there will be no change of major until end of first year of college. Only opputunity you will have to get into business college is at the end of first year and it is hardest college to transfer into at UIUC; it is also hardest one to get into as a freshman.
