Hello everyone,

I need help with a little situation. I am switching schools starting second semester. I am a current junior enrolled in the full IB program. However, the school I am switching to is an AP school. How difficult will the transition be from IB to AP? Will I be too far behind to be able to take the AP class? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It depeneds on how well you’re doing in your IB classes IMO. They usually go a little more in depth from what I know. I think you’ll do fine. What classes were you taking at the IB school? Math SL, History of the Americas?

^Yeah IB math sl (basically pre calc), IB History of the Americas (Basic US and Latin American History), IB English (self explanatory), IB Spanish 1 (Basically Spanish 4), IB Business and Management (business), and IB Biology (2nd year biology). What would these classes equate to for AP?

Would IB Bio be the same as AP Bio
Would IB English be the same as AP ENglish lit

Please help! Thanks

Yes, those would equate to the suggestive course name. IB English is equal to AP Lang & Composition at some schools.

There’s no AP PreCalc obviously lol, so you’ll probably be in Honors PreCalc (which would be considerably easier than IB Math SL). IB History of the Americas would be the equivalent of AP U.S. History. IB Spanish 1 would be AP Spanish Language. IB Buisness and Management equates to AP Micro/Maroeconomics I’m guessing. IB Biology = AP Biology, and so on.

You’re probably learning most of the things the AP classes cover, so it’s no big deal if you’re doing well in the respective IB courses.
