Switching schools for 11th and 12th grades

I go to a nationally ranked public high school now and it's killing me. My GPA has dropped to a 3.72, I can't make the tennis team, and my rank is 78/~400. I want to go to Brown.

My parents are giving me the option of switching to a prestigious private school for junior and senior years. I'll most likely be in top 10, definitely will make the tennis team, and the class size is only ~100.

People from the private school apply to my current school for freshman year and they stay, but I don't see why. Everyone says my school is better than the private school but that's not how I see it. What should I do?

Bump…

Seriously people?

Colleges are aware that some schools have more difficult curricula than others, and they factor that into admissions. A valedictorian at a really un-competitive school will probably be equal in the eyes of someone in the top 10% or 20% in a very competitive school.

If your GPA is dropping significantly, take less difficult classes next year.

It was a 3.82 last year (freshman year). Trying to get it up to a 3.85 for Yale/Brown…

I know I’m not supposed to bump old threads, but this is mine and I’m still curious soo…

I’m not looking at Yale/Brown anymore, but Emory/Duke.

What do y’all think I should do? Stay or switch?

The choice is your.
The way I see it you should say and work your f- a- off and show those ivies (they are ivies ,right?) what type of student are you!!! But that just me.

If you juts want to move to up your gpa, I really don’t see the point in going through the move or paying fees when you’re already at a decent school.
I’m actually in a very similar situation here, and I’ve decided to move. This is, however, more about teaching standards, staff apathy, available sports and increased university application help at public (private!) schools

it doesn’t seems healthy to me to change schools to increase your prospects at some colleges. a lot of things don’t seem healthy to me though :/.

it should be a decision that at least involves things like how happy you are at your current school. (if your happiness is only contingent on your gpa, then i think that would be worrisome).
