Does anyone know exactly how difficult it is to switch schools at NYU specifically from Steinhardt to Stern? I heard 3.7 and 32 credits to just qualify for application in switching…
I know NYU Students have a much much easier time transferring into Stern than external transfers
Take a look at the transfer admission requirements
@qwertyzxc Wrong. It is harder for NYU students in other schools to transfer into Stern than external transfers. Stern doesn’t want people to use other NYU schools as a backdoor entry.
That’s what you may want to think - but I am speaking from observation. I know a lot of people who transferred in from CAS - granted they had very high GPAs. If you actually compare CAS and Stern - they have very similar stats with an edge to Stern. Its most of the other schools like Tisch that don’t have such high academic stats nor does it need to since admission is more based on audition and performance than stats.
I’m also speaking from experience. None of the (many) people I know who tried to internally transfer were successful. It’s possible, but it’s absolutely not easier than transferring in from outside
I spoke to admissions about this. Although my son would have no desire to go down that road I thought it worthwhile to ask. Admissions advised me that although not impossible, in order to transfer into Stern a candidate would need exceptional qualifications and grades. I was clearly lead to believe it would be an uphill battle.
