Hey Guys,

so, i got accepted into Elliot, and go accepted into the Honors Program. HOWEVER, I was wondering whether it was possible to switch schools (like into Columbian School of Arts) and honor programs? Or is it hard once you get there? Because I am interested in international studies, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to make that much of a commitment to it. I was just wondering......Thanks!

It's not hard to switch schools at all. I switched from Columbian College to the Business School.

If you're not sure if you want to study IR, give it a shot. It's easier to transfer out of the Elliott School than it is to transfer in. When you come to campus, complete the Readmit/Internal Transfer Form downloadable at http://gwired.gwu.edu/adm/apply/apps.html. To give you of the requirements to transfer into the Elliott School, go here http://www.gwu.edu/~elliott/news/releases/esia_transfer_policy.html. Transferring to other schools don't have requirements like this.

ugh i applied to Columbia Arts/Sciences even though i am very interested in international relations, figuring i could start out in political science and if i really liked it, i could transfer to elliot... now i'm kinda regretting that decision.

about how many classes is equal to 24 semester hours (what exactly does this number mean)? and, of those six classes, ECON 11, ECON 12, HIST 40, HIST 72, PSC 1 or PSC 3, is it normal to take 4 of them your freshman year??

24 semester hours breaks down into 8 classes. You would normally take 5 per semester. It is quite normal to take 4 of them in one semester. In fact, I did it.

Become familiar with the major requirements of the program you want to transfer into at the Elliott School. So even if you're not officially in the Elliott School, you'll be following the requirments, so when your transfer request goes through, you won't be loosing any credit.
