I've recently been enrolled in my waitlist Cs 61A Lab/Dis section. Although I am quite happy to get into the section (finally...), I was wondering if I can switch into another section without losing my current section. The other section I'm after is currently being waitlisted as well, so I'm not sure how switching will affect my enrollment on my current section.

So here's the question:
Will switching to the new section jepordize my current enrollment to my Lab/Dis sections? Or will Telebear keep me enrolled to my current section & waitlist me for the new section.

I don't want to do anything yet since Telebear might drop me from my current section. Any help would be awesome! Many thanks in advance!

The switch sections button will always keep you enrolled in your current section (no risk) until you confirm the switch, but it will not let you waitlist for another section. It will only let you switch into an open one.

So I can’t really switch to another section with 4 people waitlisted unless I drop off my current enrolled section then? That doesn’t sound too great :(!

plus many fail to look at the current situation, being fooled by the ‘yesterday’ values that show up on the results from schedule.berkeley.edu, thus they believe the waitlist is 0 or 1 but in the intervening hours it has perhaps grown to 4 or 5. ALWAYS click the link to check current enrollment and restrictions to see the actual live situation.

Why do you want to switch sections? Is it because you have a conflict? Or are you just being picky? If it’s a conflict, then it might be worth dropping the class and waitlisting the section you want, even though that’s risky.

Well it’s more like being picky I guess. Also, I know a friend who is in the other section. After hearing about how grade is mainly based on how well you work with your team in CS 61A, I now want to be in his section since it’ll be easier for us to work together.

Another con is that the section I’m currently end won’t end till like 6PM (which I feel it’s a bit late for some reason…). the other section is from 12-2.

I mainly picked this section over the other one because of its waitlist position when I enrolled.

Do you think it is likely that I can switch in the first week when people decide to shop and drop classes? And thanks rider, I just checked and it’s now 10 >_<!

Thanks for all the responses guys!

That’s not as true as it sounds. The work is still highly individual based.
