Switching Senior Class - Help!

My school is on a block schedule, so most of my classes are new this semester (which started yesterday). I had been planning on self-studying and challenging AP English Lit, but I just found out that if I drop Biology 30 (a second-level science class), I can take AP English in an actual class and also take a 1-credit course (like finances, law, etc). I don't the biology class to graduate, but would it look bad to universities if I switched? I haven't taken any other second-level science courses, but I have taken four science classes. If I decide to switch, should I contact the universities and let them know of the change, or leave it to the year-end transcripts? I'm planning on majoring in liberal arts, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!
