I'm currently a first year. How would I go about doing this?

Quite a good GPA, for starters. Switching into the Engineering School is supposed to be quite difficult. Unfortunately, that’s about all I know.

I would recommend going to see an engineering counselor and asking them how to go about it.

Where can I find one of these counselors?

Like the 6th floor of Boelter or something…

[Counselors — UCLA Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs](http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/undergraduates/counselorsd)

Basically, whatever you do, don’t let your GPA drop.

When you go into the engineering counseling department, sign up for the “Change of Major Workshop.” They’ll probably not tell anything you don’t know already, but counselors will direct you to it for some reason. (At least you can say you’ve already been there, so they don’t tell you to **** off.)

They’ll probably also direct you here:
[Change of Major — UCLA Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs](http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/change-of-major)

Again, probably nothing new. Just don’t let your GPA drop!!! It’s like hard to recover from that, and the department is kinda jerky in that they won’t let you see a counselor if you’re not an engineering major, outside of the workshops. >_>

If you get a 3.5, you’ll have no problem switching. I switched from L&S to HSSEAS my first quarter here.
