Switching to online hs

Here's my situation:

I've completed 3 years of high school, and now Im in my senior year. I've gotten my first semester finished, with only one more to go. I've already sent in my acceptance letter to North Carolina State, so I'll be attending there in the fall, but I have a major question to ask.

I've missed a lot of school throughout my high school career due to migraines and other issues, but mostly migraines. Recently, I've had a migraine for about 2 straight weeks, and missed 6 straight days of school. Its just been very stressful for me. I'm so close to being done, but Im unable to go to school and finish it because every morning I wake up with these migraines and I become sick. I only have English, Social Studies, and PE credits that I need to finish hs. Please take this question here seriously. Is there any way I can finish my credits online, still get my diploma, and have NC State still admit me to their college of management in the fall?

You should probably get a 3 way conversation going between your doctor, your high school, and NC State. Certainly don't do anything as extreme as dropping out of your hs and enrolling online without involving the others in the process. NC State may be willing to work with you to accomodate a medical need.

Just make sure you know what the consequences will be before deciding to make any moves just yet.

Yeah, Im not going to jump into an online school without knowing what NC State will do to my admissions. My mom is on the phone with my GC right now, hopefully discussing what would happen. Maybe some of my classes that I really dont need to take can just be dropped without penalty and Ill just go to school for 2 classes a day or something because of my problem. But if anyones heard anything about this, please reply. Maybe NC State will make me do a summer program or something, which to me wouldn't be bad at all because I could live with my brother since he lives down there. I dont know, I just know the way it is right now cant work

I am so sorry about the migraines.

Have you talked to your high school? Some school systems allow work to be done at home in cases like yours. You are so close; your school should find a way to accommodate you.

You may be able to do regular classes from home. Or you might be able to take some distance learning classes from a NC university and get the needed credits that way. Here's a link I found with minimal googling: <a href="http://www.northcarolina.edu/content.php/aa/distance/index.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.northcarolina.edu/content.php/aa/distance/index.htm</a></p>

NC State is one institution that offers distance courses, so I think they would be OK with you doing this. What you need to do, again, is to talk to your school.

Good luck ... and I hope you start to feel better soon.

Forgot to mention ... there are lots of distance learning programs, of course. What you need to do is find something that your high school will accept. Since you are in your last semester and have been accepted to college as a student from your particular high school, I think it would be too late to switch to a diploma from a distance learning program.

My mom just got done talking to my GC and my GC said that I can take the grades I recieved in my first semester, and count them all as half credits, and then just go to school to take my law and justice class and my English class. And my PE class can be finished with a doctors excuse. This is very good news, hopefully itll be alright with my dad, but as of right now that would be great for me to relax this last semester and think about the future

I'm glad it looks like things will work out. We cross-posted; I didn't see what you said about your mom talking to the GC until after I posted!

My GC also said this would not effect NC States decision and things would be worked out.
