Does anyone know if Pitt has a symphonic band? On the website I’ve found a symphony orchestra, and then the Pitt Band marching band, but I couldn’t find information on a symphonic band.
There has always been a spring semester Symphonic Band - led by marching band staff, with some of the marching band members choosing to play - but you are right, not listed on the ensembles page of the Music dept - which is odd. You should email pittband@pitt.edu to make sure that band is still offered.
For future reference, I just came back from a visit to Pitt, and yes, they do have a symphonic band during the spring. It isn’t listed on the music website because it is actually through the athletic department.
