Hi all,
I was recently admitted to Stanford's class of 2019 and I am eager to become a cardinal in the fall of 2015! However, I am torn between majoring in Symbolic Systems or Computer Science, and on top of all of that I am considering a coterminal bachelor's/master's. I want to go into the tech field upon graduation, but I'd like to work in artificial intelligence, for which it would be helpful to have a solid cognitive science background. For any current Stanford students or recent alumni, is it likely or even possible for me to attain a coterminal BS in symbolic systems and a MS in computer science? If so, what would my course schedule look like? Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks.

@theamazingrey. Congratulations! Yes, it is very possible. Many do each year. Regardless of whether you choose Symbolic Systems or CS as your major you can continue on to coterminal Masters in CS. It would be even easier if you come in with AP credits in foreign language (or a high score in SAT2 foreign language score), AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Calculus BC…which most most do. Other AP courses do not help in getting advanced credit for these majors.
