Synthesis Essay and M/C in English Language

My truly outstanding AP English Language teacher has not been able to find any sample Synthesis essays for us to practice this year. We've looked over the sample one provided at collegeboard, but did not actually take it. Does anyone else have experience in taking doing the synthesis essay for AP English Language? Am I correct in my assumption that it's comparable to an AP US History DBQ, just without the outside information/historical facts? You're supposed to support your argument with at least half of the documents, yes?

Also, there will be a section of multiple choice that are focused on being able to analyze footnotes/documentation methods. I -just- found this out recently, and my teacher hasn't even discussed this type of multiple choice passage. I was able to find a sample section at collegeboard, but that's it.

Does anyone have -any- advice at all on how to do well on the synthesis essay and the documentation multiple choice questions? Thank you!

Have you checked the APCentral part of College Board? Not sure, but they may have sample responses.

My AP teacher has only been able to get ahold of the one sample question they released; he is an AP grader and knows where to look, but he said they haven't released much of anything. Yes, it is a lot like the APUSH DBQ minus the outside info - its about pulling info from multiple sources and using them to support your argument, as you would your own info in the open/aphorism question.

The Princeton Review book has some sample synthesis essays...if you don't mind buying a book. I don't know about the documentation questions...there's nothing like that in my book.

Hmm... I've been told that outside info can be used along with the minimum three "test-provided" sources. Anyways, the key is to let the argument guide how the sources are going to be used, not the reverse.
