Syracuse Admissions Decisions

Well im still waiting…and they say this is the last batch of notifications…i have heard nothing yet and im getting MAD. applied to bandier 1st choice, pre law 2nd choice and marketing 3rd choice. anybody else not hear?

nyu: looks as if he was waitlisted to his third choice school…he will not hear from #1 or #2

What were your stats for Bandier? i got waitlisted.

Congratulations. What were your stats? I was waitlisted. It was my first choice, but have a great scholarship to Northeastern. AI am still hoping for a yes. Does anyone know the stats for wait listed to the Bandier program?

Still haven’t heard either… very frustrated as well… Is this the last batch, or will I hear this weekend?

Just found out i got in. They put me into human ecology though, which I didn’t apply for. What does that mean? Can i switch that?

My D did not get into Newhouse, but did get into Whitman, her second choice. I wish she was viewing that positively, but she is just seeing it as a rejection. I am surprised at this: they gave her a small scholarship for the second choice school. We do remember hearing that many students transfer into Newhouse (or dual major, which she has been considering, so I think that she will be taking that into account when she considers her options.

3.58 weighted GPA, 1830 SAT, lots of extracurriculars: cross country, track, chorus, band, theatre, jazz band, yearbook. a steady job and lots of volunteer work. Two good essays (one of them is all about music industry). Three reccomendations (two from music teachers). Two interviews (one with admissions and the other with reczek from the bandier program) and two college visits…so im a little angry that I still havent heard anything

Accepted to Newhouse w/scholarship about 3 weeks ago.

You can switch later - just make sure you get good grades in your first semester. You need a min 3.0 to switch major but each school is different, so you may need something higher.

Reebok, call them if you really want to go there. Tell them they are your first choice and you want to get out of the waiting list, it helps.

I just want to get into the arts and sciences school. will i be taking different courses the first semester or are they all the same?

I’m sorry if this has been posted earlier in the thread, but does anyone know how to refuse the acceptance? I don’t believe I got a form to do it. Is it basically “Don’t say anything and we’ll get the idea”? I’d hate for someone on the waitlist for Arts and Sciences to have to wait longer than they must.

“I’d hate for someone on the waitlist for Arts and Sciences to have to wait longer than they must.”

It doesn’t work that way. Almost all schools expect a high percentage of acceptees to decline admission (the “yield”). Only if the yield is lower than expected, or after a specific date is reached, or in special cases, will wait lists be activated. Generally speaking.

***! i haven’t received ANY news yet! and it’s already the 30th. should i be worried?!

I haven’t heard anything either! My counselor called the school last week, and they told me they had yet to decide on my application and I would hear by the end of the month. I wish I knew what that meant.

Hi everyone,

I got an acceptance letter both in my email on March 12, and mail March 14. If you can login into your myslice account and they have your finacial aid up there you are in.

Good luck to everyone.

But Sryacuse does send things out in bunches at certain times because when I heard, my friends heard the same time as me.

I applied to Syracuse and still haven’t heard. I can log into myslice and see the financial aid portfolio though. I also did not apply for financial aid. Being able to see the financial aid portfolio still mean ive been accepted?

@Coto1017: I don’t know but like I said if you applied for Aid and you see them giving you money you are in.

Syracuse will send you an EMAIL first, then send you EVERYTHING else in the mail.

Hope that helps.

yeah i also didnt apply for aid. but i can see my the estimated cost and my task list
