my sister got an acceptance letter today…but it doesn’t seem to say whether she got into the architecture program or not? hawkswim09 -what did your letter say?

Dear Andrew:

Congratulations on your admission to the School of Architecture at Syracuse University for the fall semester, 2009. Your admission is evidence of the Admissions Committee’s confidence in your academic potential, as well as recognition of your personal qualities. We look forward to your contribution to the intellectual vitality and diversity that characterize Syracuse University.

Syracuse University is an exciting place where creativity and opportunity abound across disciplines and colleges. The interactive and collaborative nature of many of our programs creates an environment where faculty and students learn, discover, and create through engagement and experiences with practitioners and communities throughout the world. Discovery and learning at Syracuse have no physical boundaries, as ideas are tested in the marketplace. This commitment to Scholarship In Action provides a foundation for you to be engaged with the world and the issues affecting society today.

Your admission to Syracuse University is contingent upon your maintaining the same level of academic achievement, graduating from secondary school, and having a record of good citizenship at all times. Good citizenship shall include, but not be limited to, compliance with Syracuse University’s Code of Student Conduct, a copy of which is available on the University’s web site at supolicies.syr.edu/studs/ or upon request. It also includes the absence of any other conduct, which if it had occurred before and was known at the time of the admission decision, would have resulted in your denial to the University. Please note that we must receive your final secondary school transcript before you arrive on campus. Your admission may be rescinded if you fail to meet these standards.

The Intent to Register (ITR) Form and “Your Admission to Undergraduate Study” are enclosed. This publication contains information on residence halls, dining options, billing, and payment plans. To reserve your place in the fall class, please complete all of the required forms and return them with your advance housing payment and advance tuition payment (a total of $850), postmarked no later than May 1, 2009.

Susan E. Donovan
Dean of Admissions

I just got my acceptance email today from Syracuse. Got into their film program :)

Im from Michigan and I applied to Syracuse a little bit prior to regular decision for admission to S.I.Newhouse. I am really worried because I havent recieve ANYTHING yet!

I met with an admissions officer in the fall, I have a 3.7 GPA, attended a leadership conference in NYC for Media and Journalism, work at a newspaper as a staff writer, and I am a member of the National Honor Society and I have taken part in Varsity cheerleading and track throughout all of high school.

My two biggest problems are my ACT which I got a 19 on so I retook and got a 17 which is far below the average for those admitted to Syracuse.

I also have maintained all A’s and B’s throughout high school but the first semester of this year I recieved a C+ in Chemistry and a C- in Integrated Math 4.

Does anyone have any ideas as to if I even have a slight chance of getting in or when I will hear from Syracuse.
Do they send out acceptances first then rejections?

My last name starts with “S” if that helps…

Hey, noregrets43!
I also applied to Newhouse, haven’t heard anything, and my last name begins with an “S.” Don’t lose hope yet! You’re not alone! :)

Phew…Im trying to just stay confident and hope for the best…
Good luck to you!
=]

What do you think of my stats though…
The ACT score and first semester grades are really worrying me

What do admission/declines come in anyways? Normal envelopes or the bigger ones?

Hey, I applied to Newhouse as well, and I have yet to hear a reply too! :frowning: But best of luck everyone!! :)

is this one of the schools where the waitlisted/rejected students get their decisions last? because that’s how some schools do it and the longer the wait, the more I feel like I’m get rejected and this should be like a low match for me  I know I’m being pessimistic but still.

Voodoo_santa, I had a friend receive an email with a link to his rejection letter on either Thursday or Friday last week.

i just realized today that my midyear reports were never sent out but i was accepted to syracuse on 02-20. does this mean that my midyear report wasn’t considered at all?

I agree with Voo Doo Santa… I am feeling like I might get rejected because I havent heard anything yet. I’m soo nervous!!!

Sigh Reminisce of last year when I thought i was rejected because my friends received their decision weeks before I did. But turned out I was accepted.

My Point? Relax. Rejections/Acceptances doesn’t go by time period.

house of london-- how difficult is it to get accepted into whitman? (1100/94 GPA)

I’m very nervous as well. House of London- thanks for that information. It helps me stay positive. :)

Everybody is sooo anxious sometimes they save the best for last. Think of it that way!
I’m very nervous and could have a loooong wait ahead of me but I just want to reassure you guys… more acceptances are coming. I’ve called the school and they are still accepting students if that reassures anybody!

MPM, they don’t give a statistic on Whitman admission rate but I’d say your high school average is solid but your SAT score might hold you back. Since it is a business/management school it takes into consideration how well you did in your quantitative subjects through classes in HS and your Math SAT. I have heard of a few students whose friends applied to Whitman and were rejected from the school completely.

KC, no problem. And Good luck to both of you.

house of London, first question, how crazy Syracuse now that the basketball team is doing really well? Is there a “buzz” around campus? I was also wondering if you know the statistics for the Sport Management major in the School of Human Ecology? I heard only 50 students are admitted, was wondering if by any chance you knew the average stats? Mine are (1830/3.9uw,4.0w) SATs are all three, thanks a lot

Well a 6 overtime game alone without a doubt electrified the whole University. The Daily Orange newspaper is always breaking with news on the basketball games.
In regards to sports management I can’t tell you specifically what the stats for admission are for the program for I do not have that knowledge but as I mentioned in another post earlier that it was a total of 6 people who applied to SU from my school, four of them applied to the sports management program. Three were rejected flat out from the school and the 4th was placed in his 2nd choice. I wouldn’t say that is an accurate picture of how competitive the program is because they may not have been qualified enough to attend the University as a whole but I’m pretty sure the fact that the program is highly competitive played a part. I would say that your stats make you competitive for the school but I can’t say for sports management specifically. Be sure to mark down a 2nd or 3rd choice if you really want to be at Syracuse and you can always internally transfer in.

P.S. I’m rooting for everybody on this board! :D

thank you so much for your response and i must have missed your last response about your friends sorry if i made you repeat yourself. I was talking to my parents about internally transferring but they dont like the idea if i want to do that what should i put as my second choice management? I just love syracuse and have watched every basketball game i could this year and i dream about one day being in the student section at the dome i hope my fantasy will someday be a reality.
