Hello, CC users!
I'm behind on scheduling auditions...I've got most of them figured out so far (Hartt, Emerson, Ithaca, Adelphi, and UCONN) but I couldn't find information online for auditions to Central Connecticut State University (it IS a safe school, so it's not a huge deal, but I still need to know if/when I need to audition for their drama program) - so if anyone has any info on that, I'd appreciate it!

Online, Syracuse gives me the option to audition in-person, on campus or off campus, or by electronic submission (video). Now I understand that I am behind on this....should have looked at auditions weeks ago...but I tried to sign up for Syracuse auditions in NYC the same weekend of Unifieds. It wasn't an option for MT, only for Acting. Does this mean those auditions are full? My only other option if I can't go to the NYC one is going all the way to Syracuse - 6 hours away!

I guess my question is -- have any of you submitted (or heard of someone who did) an pre-recorded video audition? If so, how did it go??

So far I have to travel from Eastern CT to Long Island, NYC, central CT and if I don't HAVE to travel up to Syracuse, I'd love to save the time and money!

MTprospective12, our son is scheduled for MT on that Sunday in NY. It’s possible they are already full. I would call or email their department asap to be sure they are fully booked for the weekend, especially if there turn out to be cancellations from students. Each school seems to handle that differently. Syracuse is very helpful on the phone and I’m sure will answer your questions as best they can.

The only issue is that Syracuse is on break til January 16th. Not sure if there is anyone there that could immediately answer your questions. Definitely worth a try though. Good luck!

Thank you guys! We called and they put me on a wait list for the NYC audition, and I’m only #4 on that list so hopefully they can accommodate :)

@ Gwen Fairfax - Yes, have the schools I’ve applied to, I’ve applied as an Acting major. MT is preferable, but I’d like an Acting major, too. Thanks though!:)

@abparent - Maybe! We’ll have to wait and see:) Thank you!

Congrats and hope you get an aud !!! My D is an MT major at SU so if you have any questions later on please don’t hesitate to PM me and I will hook you up with her.

My D was scheduled to do the Fri afternoon/evening in NYC the weekend of unifieds, but we need to cancel. Maybe you can email me privately and I can give you her name and we can coordinate me cancelling and you taking her spot? Stinks too that I’ve already paid (the have been the ONLY school to make us pay!) and I doubt I can get a refund.

@lulu63 thank you! i’ll keep in touch if i have questions:)

@lalaimb that really stinks i don’t like how schools use the audition as part of the SCHOOL admissions process…or don’t let you know if you got into the school before you audition. but it looks like i’m really too late trying to figure out all of these auditions…so far none of the schools i’m auditioning for at the unifieds have room for me, i’m on a waitlist for all of them. so thanks for your offer, but it looks like i’m going to have to schedule a trip up to syracuse and ithaca anyway.

You better hurry up and book those as well. All these slots whether Unifieds or at the school will get filled up quickly. Last year Syracuse & Ithaca had one weekend where you could audition at both in the same weekend. See if that is the same situation this year. They are only an hour drive apart from each other. My D did Syracuse on a Fri and Ithaca on the Saturday.

We’re working on it…we’ve been calling these colleges for a week or two but they all depend on each other. It’s difficult because I have 8 schools to worry about…hard to keep track…and as far as I can tell, Ithaca and Syracuse do not have a weekend in common. I already have a Syracuse on-campus audition set up if all else fails, but the only Ithaca ones are different weekends…and the same goes for Adelphi and Hofstra. It’s all a mess…and with all these holidays it’s hard to keep in touch with the colleges.

UGH - I really wish I had scheduled all of these before Christmas break. But I hadn’t finished my applications yet…

so I’ll just say, to any HS freshman, sophomore, or juniors (or their parents) reading this… APPLY EARLY!!! it took me so much longer than I thought it would, trying to write all of those supplemental essays during the school year.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this will all work out!!

MTprospective-- last year Adelphi was very willing to accommodate auditioners who couldn’t make their dates. Call up and I’m sure they can find a time to see you. And…I thought Hofstra didn’t audition until sophomore year? Not sure.

I agree, Adelphi was accomodating. We already have one scheduled, I just feel bad having to change all of these dates around.

As for Hofstra…I thought the same thing but from what the admissions woman told us in an e-mail, we receive an academic acceptance to the school and THEN schedule the audition, which I was told is on one set date in March. (We should know if I got into the school by today, so…hopefully things will clear up soon). The March audition vs. the sophomore year audition must depend on the major.

Thank you everyone on this thread for your help…
