Syracuse and scholarships?

Hi everybody,
I'm a junior this year, and am pretty interested in Syracuse. As of right now, my GPA is about 3.84 weighted, class rank 1/70, 2200 SATs (800 math, 680 reading, 720 writing). Many extracurriculars, about 160 hours of community service (expected to be 300+ by the end of senior year), and a little bit of leadership. How generous is SU with merit scholarships? Do they stick to their guns, or are they willing to up the amount if they see that you are leaning away from the school? I would love to attend, but it's awfully expensive, and financial aid might not be as much as we need.
Thanks in advance!

My son is a student at Syracuse and I can share our experience and my observations. I think some of the scholarship availability is based on what your major is and whether or not you are a minority. You can find info about the merit scholarships available on the website- some are even for full tuition.

My son’s profile was not as strong as yours and he initially got a scholarship at the lowest level available. He got a fairly generous grant also, but we thought his package would require an excessive amount of loans. He is a very strong student at Syracuse and we have been able to negotiate more grant aid for him twice. His aid package is now quite manageable for us and it is now less expensive for him to attend Syracuse than our state university.

Does anybody here know anything about sending my PSAT scores to Syracuse through the NMSQT program? Would sending or not sending help/hurt me in any way?
