Syracuse Architecture Program

I was admitted to the architecture program at Syracuse!! but I haven't heard much about the Syracuse architecture here at CC.
Can anyone fill me in on how the program is like at Syracuse?

It’s a very prestigious program ranked third in the country by design intellegence but as a five year program it is incredibly difficult to stay in. The weed out rate is on par with the engineering school. The only catch about the Architecture school is that the job placement rates aren’t as high as the other schools.

house of london, could you elaborate a little bit more about the job placement? given that the architecture program has such a high rank, I would think that the job placement would be really good. How come the rates are not as high as others arch programs?
my D is really considering going to Syracuse for the Architecture program. Thanks a lot.

I’m not so sure what it is about Architecture as a career–maybe it’s the fact that there isn’t enough jobs as architecture or it’s just not demanded enough but from what I’ve been hearing from the current architecture students here on campus, job placement rates in that field isn’t as high for some reason. I’m sure once you do find a job though that it will be a high paying job but I’m leaning towards the notion that architects aren’t demanded as much as entrepreneurs, engineers or even journalists. I actually now believe it’s the same way for most of the architecture programs because if job placement rates isn’t as high for Syracuse then I doubt it will be any better at other schools.

Architecture firms are very soft right now with the large decline in commercial and residential development, this is a trend that started well over a year ago.

Get cash flowing, buildings starting to move again and it will reverse.

thanks house of london and kowal. yes I think it’s more about the job market at this time. My guess is that graduates from Syracuse have the same chance as others top arch programs.

HOL - Due to the fact that DI ratings are based mostly on employability, I would say that Syracuse ranks second if you want to find a job in NYC or Boston.

Yes, arch is a competitive job field, but Syracuse is do different than anywhere else.
