Syracuse Class of 2026 - Waitlist

My daughter was waitlisted today and accepted the WL offer. She applied to Newhouse. I started this thread so we can see if any get moved from WL to accepted.

I currently have a Syracuse sophomore. I was hoping they both would attend!! We love Syracuse!

I was waitlisted today too, from the School of Arts and Sciences.
I have a 4.0 GPA and 1370 SAT and was told that the school was a safety, so I’m not sure how to react or if there is any efforts I can make.

damn, I was waitlisted at Syracuse too for the Whitman school of business, I’m gonna send a letter of continued interest email tomorrow though and I heard people hear back from Syracuse about their waitlist admission status around late April

so fingers crossed guys :crossed_fingers:t5:

They mentioned after June 1st, but it would be awesome if at least SOME applicants were accepted from the WL earlier. April would be especially ideal!!! I hope someone here is that fortunate!!

Sorry to hear - it’s a weird cycle. My daughter was also waitlisted, with a 4.0, 11 APs, and a 1470 on the SAT.

Waitlisted for Falk- Sports Management…

do a lot of spots tend to open up from the waitlist?

Agreed. My son was waitlisted as well and has a sibling that is currently attending. 4.0 uw/IB honors program/submitted 1500 SAT, Biology within CAS. Should have been a safety. I am suggesting that he decline the waitlist.

If all these kids with excellent resumes are waitlisted who did they accept??

My son was accepted but his good friend was waitlisted. Seems like a lot of highly qualified applicants did. This has been a brutal year. I hope his friend gets in. I checked the forum from last year and several people posted early May acceptances. Sucks having to put down a deposit on another school. Good luck to you all!

Thanks for starting the thread. My daughter accepted the waitlist for Newhouse for film. This was a target school for her, not a safety. She really wants to get in. We are seeing two other schools for film in the meantime. Good luck to everyone!

For those waitlisted, would you ever deposit to second choice school May 1st and stay on waitlist and wait to hear? Is that an option? Waitlist is not commitment.

If you want to go to college next year, then you should accept a spot (deposit) at your next choice school. Coming off the waitlist anywhere is always a long shot. If it happens, great! Then you can decide whether to accept the spot (and lose the deposit you put elsewhere) or decline. In the meantime, I would start to get excited about the choices you have right now!

Do you mean “whether it’s ethical” to remain on the waitlist while you deposit elsewhere? If so, I think so. My D is on 3 waitlists. I’ve encouraged her to try to get off or two of them to open up spots. This one— Syracuse— I think she will cling to until she is offered a spot or is orange crushed. !

Like many others here, Syracuse was expected to be a safety for my daughter and her stats, while excellent, are not as robust as some here, and she was accepted to Whitman a few weeks ago when first acceptances went out. Got some merit too. Very surprised at all the outstanding students who’ve been waitlisted. All I can figure is that my being an alum maybe made a difference? The good news is she’ll be making a decision in the next two weeks and Syracuse is most likely not her choice, so she’ll decline soon and hopefully someone who really wants her spot gets it! Good luck to all. Hope you like nonstop snow and gray skies mid-October through mid-April

Does anybody know the odds of getting off the waitlist?

I just hope kids who got accepted and don’t want to go will decline soon so my daughter who extremely wants to attend Syracuse can get off the waitlist!! Fingers crossed for all the other over qualified students who were waitlisted!!
