i think we, the remaining kids, are either deffered/rejected. :(

i dnt think it has anything to do wit that, plenty of kids who were the first batch got rejected at my school, they just divided it up. Obviously few ppl who got rejected r gonna write on this site.

Keep ur head up,

im still waiting for mine too

Aw, I’m sorry guys. Good luck, I hope you get good news! =)

Yeah I hate to throw in the towel here, but I’m on with Kingsta, I’d put my money on us being deferred or rejected. Or possibly given second choice school. I doubt we’re going to be recipients of a straight up acceptance. Well guys, it has been swell CCers and I hope everyone is happy at Cuse next year, I’m just thankful I have University of Pittsburgh for next year and don’t have to go to my safety, that would have sucked.

If you didn’t hear back yet, it does not mean that you are probably rejected or deferred. Just be patient and wait it out. I know they are taking awhile for my application because their reviewing a film I sent them. Just be patient guys, and hope for the best.

sent my deposit in today…Newhouse here I come!!! does anyone know how difficult it is to dual major with Whitman if you are a Newhouse student? is it competitive to get into that dual major? also, when can you apply to dual major?

congrats LTS! I know I haven’t posted a lot on this thread but I have been following all of your posts! I was rooting for you! see you in the fall!!!

Congratulations mh
I think it will be easy for you to dual major with Whitman, since you were accepted at Newhouse. My D is a freshman in this dual program now. You might even want to write a letter to admissions asking them to consider this now, since there is a freshman business seminar which is only offered in the fall semester which is a prerequisite for all other Whitman courses.
This is a very difficult dual major because you have to satisfy all Whitman and Newhouse requirements. If you do not have any AP course credit, you have to complete 8 to 10 extra courses over the four years period, depending on which major you pick in Newhouse. Since you already have two courses from the summer, that will be a big help. Some students take 6 courses at a time to do this or others take summer courses at other colleges - you only have to get a C and they do not get added into your GPA. The Whitman degree has a lot more math courses than Newhouse. Also, you are technically a Whitman student in terms of advising and you do not need to satisfy a foreign language requirement - which can be a plus or minus depending on your interest. Now that my daughter has almost made it through one semester, she can see herself sticking with it but it is hard. I would be glad to answer any questions that you have about pursuing this program.
By the way, she was also in the Whitman learning community which I think helped her to stick with it - Newhouse has a required seminar with only 15 students in it first semester and that gave her the support for that school; but Whitman doesn’t have the same network except in the learning community. Plus you get to be in a dorm in the middle of campus.

thanks for the advice and info Twoparent! I am really taking everything into consideration now. I will definitly PM you with any questions I have. What dorm has the Whitman learning community!?! Also, is it possible to complete the requirements for both majors in four years?? And if I start at Newhouse and dual at the end of my freshman year, will my advisor be at Newhouse or Whitman? Does it even matter?

The Whitman LC is in Dellplain (right next to the new Ernie Davis). It is possible to complete it in 4 years but you’ll have to add 6 courses in somewhere- summer, Maymester, intersession, or if you can handle it, take an extra course to make 6 during the semester (which is covered in your Syracuse tuition). You have advisors at both schools. However, the dual degree program majors are always housed in Whitman. I’m not sure how it works if you start this in your sophomore year - Whitman has a lot more required courses than Newhouse who expects you to major somewhere else. Maybe, you can just have a major or minor in Whitman - good questions for the admission department or Whitman.

Congrats everyone!

LTS, my stats were exactly like your’s except my GPA was a 3.0 UW and SAT’s 20 points higher. I’m hoping i get in :

Thanks everybody! I’m so excited for next year! I bet everything will work out, Kingsta, hopefully we’ll be seeing each other at newhouse next year!
