Syracuse Frats

Could someone fill me in on the myriad frats lining Comstock Avenue.

In a general sense what are the respective fraternities reps/status on campus?

What frat is generally considered the best, whether it be in the philanthropy, debauchery, or overall fun departments? Which ones are the worst? Spew generalities if you need to.

Lined up on Comstock there are
Phi Kappa Psi aka Phi PSI
Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity aka SAMMY
Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity aka TKE (pronounced teeeek)
Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority
Sigma Chi Fraternity
Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity
Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority
Theta Chi Fraternity

There are much more that are not on comstock but these generally are the flamboyant ones that everyone notives first. Mostly if you live in Shaw, Dellplain etc.
There generally isn’t a “best” fraternity. The culture isn’t about ranking who is better or best but more so who have put in more service related work, philanthropy etc. There are though, frats and sorority with reputation both negative and positive but you will just have to find out once you arrive on campus.

Why dont the black frats have their own houses?

AEPi has some good parties but most of the frats ive come across are pretty selective on letting people in unless you already know someone inside that very frat.

hahahaha yeah if your coming to SU you’ll find out real soon that its huge in greek life.
I’m not even going to get into rankings because its stupid but the main frats are on comstock as you said and on walnut behind the library. IMO they offer the best party scene at SU and as a freshman you may have trouble getting in at first (esp is your a guy) as you make friends w people in frats and your friends join frats you’ll have no problems.
but dont worry about perceptions just make your own judgements when you get to campus.
