Does anyone know about how/when to get in? How to get information on the program? Is anyone in the program?

We were told in a meeting this week that the information will be coming in the mail a couple/few weeks after the acceptances.

I can get into my slice also..do you think that means anything?

Are you guys talking about the Renee Crown University Honors Program? Got a mail asking me if I want to accept the honors program today.

^ i got a letter about that too

can you guys post your stats?

I'm curious to know if they are sending out any more invites.

Did anyone accepted to Newhouse get an invite?

i haven't yet thanks a lot km and congrats

Neither have I. I would expect to get in because I got into other college's Honors' Programs (UGA and Tulane).

Is there a possibility that Newhouse acceptees don't get invited since everyone who gets accepted is basically at the top of their class???? Just weird that nobody on here (or that we know) has been invited.......

You don't have to be invited to apply, or at least that's my understanding.

yeah you can apply on your own. But its like five essays or something that you need to submit with your application. I think an invite would allow you to get in without all that work...but I could be wrong. Hope not

The Honors Program is really good. I got in without applying during the winter break with a first semester GPA of 3.94.

All the people in the Honors Program are really cool, especially the faculty. There are extra courses that you have to take, but they are really cool. Also, you get to register for classes before your peers. You get to take more credits also without paying extra money. Now, I'm taking 22 credits and it helps you get to take minors and stuff.

I would definitely recommend trying/applying or accepting the offer if you got an offer.

I love being in the honors program. I think it's a major reason I'm here. Capstone projects might seem like a pain (that's prob the #1 reason people drop honors before senior year), but there's a good chance you'd hafta do a senior thesis anyway, and if you love your field it's just icing on the cake. I love my honors courses, and the program makes the school seem smaller. I love going to honors meetings bc it's the one time on campus when I know or recognize everyone in the room and a good portion are good friends of mine. It's great. Apply after first sem if you don't get in before that. you just need a 3.4

is there any way to apply and get in without doing the essays? :)

? I seriously doubt it. Honors is big on writing ability (yes, completely unfair to my science-happy roommates, completely wonderful for me).

I'm very confused threekids.....Do you have to be invited to the Renee Crown honors or can anyone apply?

If anyone can apply, do you know where the info is on the website for incoming freshman?

anyone can apply basically at any time rodney...http://honors.syr.edu/Prospective/CurrentStuApp.pdf

freeze: According to the application, this is for current SU students...I will call tomorrow to find out the scoop and post in the evening....You may well be right, but I'd like to confirm......
