Syracuse or No?

If I want to study film AND business (in some way, shape or form) should I apply to Syracuse University? I've already started this application but recently, many people have been telling me that it's not worth it. However, they're saying this on the assumption that Syracuse as a whole is not "good enough for me". However, seeing as I want to study film and business... need help!

What do you guys think?

by the way, if I'm not applying Syracuse I might apply to UNC Chapel Hill.

“many people have been telling me that it’s not worth it”

Newhouse[/url”>http://whitman.syr.edu/Undergraduate/dual/newhouse.asp]Newhouse

Do the research, visit, talk to the right people and figure it out for yourself…there are quite a few people in this program who were at the top of their class out of high school…

Syracuse University is a great school.

When you say study film what do you mean? If you mean film studies that’s fine for fun, but its a worthless degree in the actual industry. Just want to give you the heads up. Places with great film and business schools are NYU, USC, and UCLA.

the whole point is to do both film and business so that if film doesn’t work out, i can get into business (well, i’m actually wanting to go into business of film). that’s why double majoring is optimal but of course, most schools don’t allow that.
the whole point for me, of studying film, is internships, networking, etc. or whatever (actually no, that’s not the whole point- i actually enjoy it)

i’m a new jerseyan and i just don’t feel comfortable going to california for college at this point. as a study abroad, etc. yes but not for 4 years.

i know syracuse is a good school, but other people… PRESSURE!! so stickin with syracuse?

What exactly do mean regarding “studying film”? Do you mean Cinema Studies or do you mean something like Communications–TV/Radio/Film?

Why not apply to both Syracuse and UNC? UNC OOS is more selective than Syracuse.

Cuse isn’t bad. It isn’t great, but it isn’t bad. If you want to study film, you may want to look at schools in California. Not sure you are going to have much exposure to the industry in upper NY. Speaking of upper NY, have you visited Syracuse? There isn’t much going on other than the university. Just something to keep in mind.

yeah, i meant tv/radio/film. and by no means is syracuse my number one choice but i’m just saying. at this point, i think i’m going to stick with applying to syracuse. they have newhouse- a good school, and decent business program and from what i remember- it’s quite easy to find a way to combine them in some way, shape, or form.
