It depends on what you want. Based on what I’ve heard/read:

Purely academically, Syracuse has the edge. It provides more of that classic liberal arts experience.

Northeastern does not have as strong a pure college education, but it offers an excellent, less traditional work-integrated program.

Northeastern is in the middle of Boston, academically the center of the earth.
Syracuse is in a sleepy small city: there’s less to do outside campus, but there’s more to offer on campus (like seeing an Orange game)

Syracuse is not a sleepy, small city, in any way. No it’s not the biggest city ever, but its still the 4th biggest city in the state of NY with about 200k residents. There is plenty to do besides Orange games.

Also, NYC is the academic center of the world, its where everyone who gets their degrees in boston wants to go anyway.

Sorry, Big East, but I have to disagree with you there. Been to Syracuse and there was very little to do. It’s a pretty city, but you can’t say it offers anywhere near the same amount of activities that Boston, NYC, Chicago, or Philly may offer.

That said, it’s a whole lot more interesting than Deep Springs.

I’d go with Syracuse. Northeastern is a good school, but it doesn’t really have that traditional college feel. Syracuse has lots of spirit and involvement on campus, and great overall academics.
