Last year my D received her email on 3/17. At that time we did not receive any financial aid. We appealed after gathering the packages for all other schools. Syracuse listened, gave us financial aid - She is know a happy Orange
Hopefully everyone is right about hearing on 3/16 because thats only a week from friday!!
Does anyone know if Syracuse considers demonstrated interest??
Also what are my chances?
SAT: 1270
GPA: 4.12 (weighted)
ton of extra curriculars
legacy, my grandfather went there
@downfortheride - They do. I couldn’t find the proper commondataset but this is probably close:

While I take much of what I am told over the phone with a grain of salt, I thought I would post this tidbit in case anyone finds it helpful. I spoke to a financial aid rep today and the first wave of financial packages will go out next weekend for those students that had complete financial aid profiles. We hope to be in this wave, the waiting and delayed excitement is so difficult.
Good luck to everyone waiting for a decision, I hope you hear tomorrow!!!
@downfortheride You have no chance of getting in like honestly dont apply sats are way too low and gpa weighted is trash
@PruPru25 So, that’s for people who’ve gotten accepted already?
@MrElonMusk Yes, accepted. But they were not specific as to when accepted. I asked if it meant ED or RD and there was not a definitive answer, only that if all the info was in, one would be in the first wave.
Have ED folks received their FA? If so, I guess it’s conceivable that someone accepted tomorrow could get their package next week.
If you log into MySlice and click on “my financial aid,” does the message look different to anyone? Did it always say “Select Aid Year to View” and “Select the aid year you wish to view?” Didn’t it used to say something like “there is no information here for you”
@DramaRama When your daughter initially applied to Syracuse, did you submit both the FAFSA and the CSS, and then later appeal? Or did you appeal having only submitted one or the other originally?
Does anyone know if Syracuse actually admits a large number of students in regular decisions? It seems as though they get many in Early Decision. Is it possible they already have their classes full from Early Decisions? Are there any statistics for what percentage they admit in ED. vs RD? This is stressing me out. We applied in November but haven’t heard back. Plus we did not do a visit. We are OOS and we were waiting to hear back before we visit. Makes me wonder if we even have a chance.
@mistreshijas We had submitted FAFSA and CSS earlier on.
@PruPru25 @mistreshijas The financial Aid people and Bursar people are very knowledgeable and nice. They work with you, talk, recommend… By the end of the summer, my D had received a scholarship from a 3rd party, but I felt I was running against the clock to be able to apply it to the Freshman 1st semester. The financial aid people were extremely patient and caring and made it all work. If you need to, appeal to the package. You can also appeal later, once you have all offers, and if you are serious to go to Syracuse, they want to know.
So are we expecting some decisions today? Or next Friday? Notices are sent via email, correct? Roughly what time a day? Thanks!
next Friday (3/16) is the likely beginning notices for RD and will filter in the rest of the month thereafter (on subsequent Fridays). Would be very surprised if anything before 3/16.
@kisakyamaliya - I really don’t think they will be full with early decision. They have algorithms to get x number and then differ for later.
Algorithms are modified based on the previous year, based on # of acceptances
Not that it means anything for SU, but BU sent us a note saying they will release their answers on 3/17. It was nice that they sent the note so the “any day now” anxiety is relieved.
@DramaRama thank you for the clarification.
I take it no one has heard from SU today?
@YoungOne4 Nothing.
