this guy in school was accepted for the Discovery Strassbourg thing. I’m still waiting…NEWHOUSE, LET ME IN.

two more weeksssssssss!!!

Accepted to Newhouse :)!

hey did anyone do the IDOC package yet for syracuse? or do we wait until Syracuse contact us about it?

Usually College board will send you an email if the school needs the IDOC. It should have told you when you completed your FAFSA. We did not have to send IDOC to Syracuse but we had to send it to another need blind school before March 1st.

@abbytempura What were your stats? And are you international or domestic?

I thought Syracuse was an IDOC school. I never got anything but according to the profile, thats what it says that syracuse is IDOC. I called in and said they haven’t gone there yet.

I know they don’t require IDOC for domestic applicants.

Oh okay. Thats good.

If you get like one D in math on your transcript would you be screwed for Newhouse?

@deyseemeballin it could hurt, but at the same time, it could not. It really just depends on how strong your other stats are. Also, communications majors aren’t as math intensive as many other majors.

@ixsnow I have a 3.9 weighted 3.5 UW and a 32 ACT (with 28 subscore in math)
all my SS and Eng credits are significantly stronger but not necessarily upward trending. My ecs and recs are also outstanding… Ya iono

@deyseemeballin, with your stats, I don’t think a “D” will hurt too much.

whats IDOC mean?

Its the tax thing that some colleges require
Idoc.collegeboard.com

Wonder if any acceptance emails will be going out this week…anxious

probs next friday

My stats are irrelevant, since I got in on a holistic admission (that’s how architecture conducts their admission, with greater weight on the portfolio), so I can’t really comment on that. However, I can tell you that depending on need, Syracuse awards up to 80% of need, and the other 20% is on your household to come up with, whether it’s through loans, outside scholarships, or out of pocket.

I can almost guarantee you that March 15th will be the day the first wave of decisions are sent out, so you either will or won’t get a decision that day, I don’t know the sorting methodolgy (I’m assuming random). There will easily be two waves, but depending on how many people applied, there could be a third.

XCcoasterfreak: Thanks for the info on FinAid! I noticed Syracuse has high costs for room and board. Do students after their first year go off campus for cheaper?

Hey guys! I was accepted Early Decision this year and thought I had some info that would help you guys out. I received an email on December 14th titled “Syracuse University Admission Notification,” that read:

"Dear Megan,

The Admissions Committee has reached a decision on your application to Syracuse University. The link below will take you to an electronic copy of the notification letter you will receive by mail. The link does not include any applicable enclosures, which may be indicated in the letter.

So I got mine on the first wave for ED-ers. I applied very early (more than a month before the ED deadline) and I consider myself a strong applicant for the program I got accepted to, so I have a feeling these two things combined may determine how soon you receive notification of your acceptance/rejection. That was on a Friday, and then sometime the next week I received a paper copy of the letter in the mail. December 17th, so 3 days after I got the acceptance email, I got an email prompting me to go to my MySlice account because my financial aid/scholarship info was available. So, it may follow this trend for RD as well, but don’t stress if you haven’t received info about aid yet! And try not to read too much into last year’s RD thread; I panicked so much at 4:01 when I saw accepted EDers received their notification at 4 pm… they decided not to send them til 6 pm this year! Lol in other words, try not to stress too much!

@Mysticalkites, SU has a two year requirement for housing, so basically you are stuck living on campus as a freshman and sophomore.

Hope I was some help!
