Syracuse Regular Decision Class of 2018

Oh, and my stats are horrible, but I am not ashamed! Lol. ACT: 21, GPA: 3.55. But my personal essay/writing supplements, teacher recommendations, extracurricular activities, community service, and art portfolio totally outweighed that… I really hope that this gives everyone else hope! Lol. Im proof that you do NOT have to be perfect, nor have the most phenomenal ACT/SAT scores to get admitted into an amazing school! Good luck everyone!

I was accepted to Newhouse for a magazine major! I got the email at 4:12 pm EDT and here are my stats
ACT: 31
GPA: 3.78 uw
School doesn’t rank but I know I’m in the top 20%
100+ hours of community service
Other various extracurricular
Good luck to everyone else!!

(Like I said I was accepted to VPA Film)! But also with a Founders Scholarship! :)

2 of my friends were admitted like 5 minutes apart just now! One has a $55,000 scholarship at the college of arts and sci

DD for VPA/School of Art & Design/Computer Art and Animation:

ACT: 30 (She had 33/English & 34 Reading; bloody math at 25 brings composite down)
GPA: 3.53 UW (HS considered top 1% in country; school does not give away A’s)
AP: Scholar designee (Lots of AP classes with 4 or 5 on tests)
SAT II: 770, US History (not required, but really very good!)
EC: 160+ community service
Essays & Recs: All top flight; she’s a stunning writer & her teachers/GC/private art instructor are so supportive
Other: Required arts portfolio, so this is another huge factor considered in admissions.

She’s already been accepted at LMU’s SFTV Animation program, Emerson’s Animation program, Sarah Lawrence College w/focus on film/animation. Very likely to be admitted to NYU Tisch. Not hopeful to be admitted to USC (Who DOES get in that film school, anyway? She says USC is better for MFA anyway.)

Does anyone know if admission emails will go out tomorrow as well? It’ll be cutting it really close on time if I have to wait til next week. :(

1790 sat 3.8 gpa 6k scholarship whitman school

weird question-- but i forgot my myslice password, and the question to change it isn’t working. could anyone tell me what special characters i need for the password (like a capital letter, exclamation point, etc.) I anxiously can’t check my FA online, because of that.

I got into VPA so it may have more to do with my portfolio, but my stats are
30 act and 3.4 gpa.
I’ve also had an internship, a job (for 2 years), 300 hours of community service, I’m part of an art academy within my school, and I’m treasurer of a club. But it doesn’t appear that I got any merit. Hope this helps someone in the future!

Is it true that the first wave is mostly acceptances, the 2nd is half acceptances and half rejections, and the 3rd is an even mix of acceptances/rejections/waitlisted? I’ve been reading threads from c/o 2016 and 2017 and this seems to be the general trend.

S got accepted to Syracuse VPA BFA acting! Email came today right after 4pm! So excited!

Looks like bandier already sent out all acceptances :frowning: I already have a big career going in the music industry, and got recs from top people in the industry. My scores weren’t amazing, though, but I heard they didn’t pay attention to that. Hope I get into VPA then

Accepted to Engineering with a $29,200 Package! So excited about Syracuse. Good luck to those of you still waiting. Stay positive!

SAT: 1780
GPA: 4.1
5 AP Classes
EC’s: Too many to list
Great letters of Rec.

Those that received the $55,000 scholarship…can you explain how that possible when tuition is only $40’ish??? Do they give money towards room and board too?

Hello to all the Ghanaian and Togolese people out there! Ghana ye de! Anyame me da wo ase!
For anyone who looks at these stats, anything is possible. There are no definite qualifications for acceptance. Potential is valued and viewed in different ways, believe in yourself because everyone possesses a different kind of intelligence.

So did everyone who got acceptance from Syracuse today find out about their academic merit awards on
myslice?

They sent an email to me about merit.

AN email first came about acceptance, then a separate email 30 minutes later about merit, then another 30-40 minutes later the financial aid award.

Ugh I did not receive any emails… did I not get in???

same…i didn’t receive an email. am i rejected?
