Syracuse University B.F.A. Musical Theatre Class of 2021 - Anyone hear anything yet?

Hello! I applied to the Syracuse University B.F.A. Musical Theatre program, and it is definitely one of my top choices. I have read rumors from past years that the program sends out decisions every Friday in March in random groups, but I still wasn’t sure. I want to start this forum so you guys can post if you have received any decisions yet or if you have any information about when we will be hearing from them. Good luck to you all!
:slight_smile:

Hi. I just happened to call them and was told that although they don’t have a specific date, that they’d start emailing decisions in “mid-March” and will finish by the end of March. She said it’s a mix of acceptances and rejections in no particular order.

Last year, someone heard on March 15th - it doesn’t get much more mid-March than that. :wink:

BAL!

Just heard - another rejection. Email sent at 6:03 today.
Better luck to you!

@LuvsLabs Same with my D.

I am so sorry, @LuvsLabs and @Mardeen! It seems that every single person who heard back from Syracuse today was rejected. This is insane. We have not heard back one way or the other, but just reading through the posts was gut wrenching…

@LuvsLabs and @Mardeen - hugs

Thanks everyone. Well, that’s it, barring some miracle acceptance from CMU. D is not interested in UArts, the only acceptance, and who knows if Marymount will take her off the waitlist, so it’s looking like I’ll be making more travel plans to go see what the Butler Auditioned BA Theater Program in Indianapolis is all about.

I’m hoping to get her scheduled for a day shadowing a theater student w/acting concentration and also see their production of Love and Information, an experimental play Caryl Churchill. If we go, I’ll share our impressions since there really is nothing about the program on CC.

So sorry @LuvsLabs and @Mardeen. This process is just awful! LuvsLabs, I was just curious why your D isn’t interested in attending UArts? Just not what she is looking for?

@LuvsLabs
Sorry. Do not know your story so do not know if you want to add anything at this point. There have been several late audition schools mentioned and some that may allow a video auction for acceptance? Have you looked at Nebraska Wesleyan? There were a few others mentioned also. But if Nebraska Wes lets you submit a video with a quick answer then you can decide if worth the visit?

Sorry @Mardeen.

Also received the boot today from Syracuse :frowning: pity because this was my top choice. I did however find out I was an alternate for Pace so we will call this a win lose day!

Sorry @Monkeiiboy

How come so few people were contacted today, and all rejections? This doesn’t seem to be similar to past years…

Yes, @emilya333 -seems like not too many notifications at all yesterday.

Think it’s a month long process. S’s friend found out 2 weeks ago and S last Friday - I will say that he got the letter from admissions late on a Friday and then about 2 days ago a letter from the drama dept welcoming him. I don’t think it’s over yet- I think they go at least until the end of the month and even into the first week of April possibly. Fingers crossed for everyone.

Any Syracuse movement today?

My S is still waiting…
