*Syracuse University ED 2019*

When I was at my interview in October the interviewer told me they would be releasing decisions on or around the third week of December. But, I have a feeling they’ll be notifying people starting the first week of December.

So nerve racking… Ahh!!

Today my son received an email from a junior student from newhouse with the same intended major asking if he had any questions. That she was here to assist him…anybody else receive one of these. Weird to receive on the day before thanksgiving. IS this a good sign?

This CSS profile is a pita.

I applied ED to Newhouse!

I am the Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper, yearbook and I am an active member of Key Club. My GPA is 3.5/3.6 and I have an ACT score of 30. I’m a three year varsity softball player. I also completed the Sports Communication Pre-College Program at Marist over the summer.

I have visited the school four times and I interviewed at Lubin House in NYC. Syracuse is my absolute top choice and I have heard decisions may be released as early as next week, the first week of December. Does anyone know if this is correlated to how early you submitted your application?

Ahhh! Tomorrow begins December! I really hope we find out this week, this waiting is driving me up a wall. Also, i do believe the earlier you apply, the sooner you are told of your decision. But thats simply from what ive heard from several people/college threads. I applied on November 5, so i really hope theres a correlation!

I was reading last year’s ED thread for Syracuse and they seemed to think the first week of December was international students being accepted…any truth to that?

jenape - I was going through it too! And I think it was more than just international students! It looks like the first wave of acceptance emails were sent out on the first Friday in December, which was the 6th last year and which will be the 5th this year. So possibly some of us might know in five days?! Crazy! I hope everyone here gets in! Fingers crossed :)

do they do early action?

Unfortunately they don’t. It’s either early decision or regular decision.

Ok so I’m freaking out because I am terrified I won’t get in. I applied ED to Whitman. Here’s my so called resume.

I go to a top five school in Indiana. I have a 3.3 GPA and a 28 on my ACT. I know my grades suck but I have anxiety and ADD and was not diagnosed till my junior year (everything is explained in my essays). I am sports editor for my newspaper. We recently won 3rd in the nation for our publication. I also am involved in Best Buddies, SADD and DECA. I volunteer at a camp for underprivileged children in the summer and throughout the year. Through this program I also help with the Youth Leader program which shapes teens into responsible adults. I am a three-year varsity winner for soccer and Conference player. I also play for a competitive travel team. We were regional champions for the Midwest and I was player of the year. And last but certainly not least, I run a fashion blog.

So, my grades are ok but I feel like I have great extracurriculars. I also flew to Syracuse twice and met with someone at Whitman. The second time I met the same person, she wrote up our meeting as a admissions interview.

Also, my grades drastically improved after my diagnosis. My first quarter of senior year I ended with a 3.9 GPA.

So please tell me if I have a chance, because I want to get in so badly.

Also, good luck to everyone in their ED applications!!!

Hey @EG1234, we have very similar credentials. If you go back a page or two, you can read up a little bit about me. Unfortunately there’s no telling whether we’ll get in (until we hear back in the next few weeks), but I do know they are very interested in what you do outside of the classroom as well. Don’t stress too much, we’ll know in no time! Good luck :)

@EG1234‌ (I didn’t know you could tag people on this site, ohhh) I really think you have a very good shot at getting in. I’m not going to say you’ll definitely get in because I don’t want to jinx you, but the avaerage gp

Whoops, sorry! The average gpa is a 3.3, which is what you have so you are not below the average pool of grades. Also you have such strong credentials, they will definitely take that into consideration! I really hope you do get it! Best of luck!

I live in Maryland and I go to an average competitive public high school

Has anyone called SU recently and heard any updates regarding decision notifications?

Eager to know whether their will send emails earlier than the 15th… Seems so far away. Ahh!

Fingers crossed for SU everyone!!

does anyone know if the students who found out last year on the first friday of december (dec 7), were international students only??

@theo133 the website says prio to jan 1 i believe, but everyone on here is saying much earlier so im not sure, i doubt if you call them they would know because i think there are several factors such as when you submitted it

@san144 yeah I asked about submission date being a factor as well and the woman I spoke with said that isn’t a factor and that they are following a “decision schedule”

Curious to see though what other people who call in are told… The counselor who picked up sounded super busy (understandibly)

All of you guys sound so qualified I am starting to seriously doubt my chances.

Whoops, I meant to say legacy.
