<p>How hard is it to be accepted in the the Graphic Design Major at Syracuse University? If my sat scores so far aren't strong (1580 is my highest score as of now) would it be better for me to apply to the college of visual and performing art?</p>
<p>My daughter just applied to newhouse - her first choice is also graphic design. We are not too hopeful as her stats are low – 1650 sat and a 3.7 gpa. Her extracurriculars and recommendations are really strong, though, so who knows. She listed photography and communication and rhetoric as her 2nd and 3rd choices (both in the VPA school) with hopes of transferring to Newhouse her sophomore year. She opted not to list the vpa communications design major as a choice because we have heard it is a brutal program. My advice is to apply to Newhouse but also list at least one other program as a backup. Good luck!</p>
