Syracuse University / Newhouse Transfer help!

I've known I wanted to go to Syracuse for quite some time now. I fell in love with the school itself as well as what it could offer me. I'm in my junior year of high school and am seriously interested in majoring in advertising. This major would of course mean going to Newhouse, but I really don't feel like I would be able to get in. I had a really rocky freshman year, 2.6 GPA, due to some emotional troubles. The issues I faced freshmen year is nothing that I think would help me to share, probably only hurt my chances. Since then I have began pulling up my GPA, sophomore year was a 3.1 and for the first semester of junior year I have a 3.5. I'm not asking you to chance me, because I feel like I already know the verdict, but was wondering what transferring from another SU school was like. I've looked at all the other schools and none really seem to have anything that co-incides with advertising (I could be wrong and hopefully am). Has anyone else been in this situation? There are other schools I'm really interested in but have my heart set on Syracuse and hopefully transferring into Newhouse. I'm sure other people have been in a similar spot, loving Syracuse and Newhouse but not having the grades to get in, and would like to know what you did.

Thank you!

Intra-University transfer to Newhouse is based 100% on GPA. At an October 2013 campus day, Dean Branham said that the most recent GPA needed for transfer was 3.65. You can find more information on the Newhouse section of the Syracuse University website:

I am in the same boat as you! What other schools are you looking at?

Ithaca College- Park School of Communication would be a school to look at.
