I am currently enrolled in USD and absolutely hate the school! Due to this point, I am transferring out of here.
I already heard from University of San Francisco (USF) that I am admitted for spring 2009 semester. Yet, I also applied to NYU and Syracuse too.
Now the choices are:
1) If I gain admission to NYU, I am definitely going! My first choice school!
However, if I am rejected from NYU and am admitted by Syracuse, it will be a hard pick.
I know Syracuse ranks higher than USF. However, the weather plus the location is a major drawback for me.
I am not an international student but my parents live overseas. So I will have to fly 24+ hours every fall and spring to attend Syracuse.

What would you recommend? USF or Syracuse? Why?

By the way,
At NYU, I applied to Gallatin
At USF and Syracuse, it is accounting.

<< If I am rejected from both NYU and Syracuse then there will be no hard decision to make! >>

Consider what do you hate about USD and what attracted you to the other schools. USF and USD have a lot of similarities as west coast urban catholic schools although they do belong to different orders.

i suggest you not look at the rankings. all schools have different programs and social life. you may want to make sure you will be happy there before you apply or go there.

No, not yet, but I plan on it. Just curious as to how long it takes for an admissions decision. Did you apply as a transfer? That’s probably a stupid question…

I applied as a transfer. USF isn’t consider extremely selective with transfers (expect nursing). If your grades are decent, you will get in! Don’t stress out too much!

At the risk of stating the obvious, Syracuse and San Fran are two very different cities. You need to give more details as to what you are looking for academically and socially in a school. Do you like to ski? Will you get cabin fever in the frozen tundra of SU?

I would say that USF is an awesome school to go to! Furthermore, I am classified as a “readmit”. The only reason I left was because of family reasons. Now, that I have taken care of that, I just can’t wait until I go back to USF next semester! =)
