Syracuse University Regular Decision 2019

Heyy Guys

Made a new discussion for RD 2019

I was hoping to find somebody to chance me for RD. I went to the fall open house this weekend and loved it and would apply ED if I wasn’t still waiting for a recommendation and didn’t feel the need to compare different financial aid packages.

I’m currently a high school senior with a 3.4 GPA unweighted with all honors and APs throughout my high school career except for geometry, algebra 2, precalculus, and now calculus. I expect my GPA to get a boost in the 1st semester of my senior year after starting off strong with all A’s and one B. My essay is pretty solid and my SAT scores are in Syracuse’s range. Extracurriculars are solid as well. I’m also receiving a recommendation from an alum if that carries any weight. Any insight would be appreciated.

Sat Scores

690 Reading
580 Math (Lower than expected)
550 Writing

Your pretty much in

If @Orange19 is good, then I should be fine.

Is anyone applying for the Discovery Abroad Program?

Hi, high school senior with a 3.4 GPA and a 1660 SAT super score.

I have over 400 hours of volunteer work and I’ve interned for Tufts Medical School as a resaech assistant and TRIO Gear Up and Talent Search as an ambassador. I’ve also rowed varsity crew for three years and varsity swim for one. I’ve been with marching and concert band for four years. I’m vice president of GSA and an active member for the science, physics, international language, chess, and Gay Straight Alliance(GSA) clubs.

When I met with the interviewer, she told me not to worry about getting in, however like any other student awaiting descions, I still have my doubts.

What do you think? I’m really nervous since SU is my top. I applied Oct. 28, 2014 and finished my CSS.

Still really nervous.

Go Cuse’!

I also have a recommendation letter from Tufts Medical School’s Dean of Multicultural Affairs if that helps any.

Insight on the internships;

Research Intern for TUSM in gender related diagnosis

Student Teacher Intern and Ambassador for TRIO Talent Search, Gear Up and Upward Bound, a government funded program focused on assisting low income students to getting into college.

Quick question, when does RD hear back? I heard that EA II hears back sooner but it is my understanding that it is binding, is it not? Also, if let’s say i’m applying to Newhouse and I don’t get in, will I be automatically defaulted to a regular school or not?

I applied to Whitman School of Management. Fall 2015 Extremely nervous! I have a 3.4 average. 1300 on SATS. ALOT of extracurricular activity. Letters of recommendation from my dean who is Also my trig teacher & another recommendation from my Eng teacher. Very nervous

The admissions told me that they look at RD on Jan 1st I’d assume from February to March is when descions should get out.

Hey does anyone know what they expect from the common app supplement questions? How long in length should them be bc for the first question I have 350 words is that too much?

hi… SU is my first choice but I’m too hesitant to do ED2… can someone tell me if I look like an appealing, competative candidate? I’m applying for Newhouse. Does it matter/help if I’m interested in ROTC?

I’d really appreciate if someone could let me know what they think! (:

@kaykay12350‌ it says brief, so in writing mine I made them to the point, nowhere near 350 words.

Hi everyone! I applied ED II to Syracuse and there wasn’t a thread for it but I just have a quick question. When I submitted my application, I received a confirmation email from the common app but not from Syracuse. At other schools I applied to I received emails with checklists of what I needed almost immediately, but it’s been almost an entire day and I still haven’t heard from them. I’m assuming it may be because I submitted it while the admissions staff is on holiday break but I was just wondering if anyone else was also experiencing this.

@mdb1028 it will take them 2-3 days to send you a confirmation email, I got mine for ED II after 2 days of applying.

Applying to Newhouse!

can someone chance me for regular decision, arts and sciences, pre-med.

Good recs, good ec’s, and amazing essays

@kaykay12350 My supplemental questions were only about 100 words each, and I got in ED to Newhouse. So, I would say having short, but quality answers is the best way to go.

it’s hard not to get accepted to SU
