Syracuse University Regular Decision 2019

I have a 1500 on my SAT, 3.89 GPA, lots of extracurricular and I have connections at Syracuse. I have had an interview and applied regular. Will I get in? I applied December 8th. I lived in Europe for 10 years.

My daughter hasn’t heard yet, and neither have any of her classmates that applied RD. She applied to Newhouse first choice and Whitman second. 3.6 GPA, lots of AP/honors, and leadership roles in a lot of clubs and activities, but she doesn’t test well so the SAT scores are lower than everything else. On the other hand, her interview went extremely well to the point that she was in there FOREVER talking to the guy. She applied in early December. Ugh I hate waiting.

Does anyone have any idea when more decisions will be released

Does anyone know when decisions come out. I didn’t realize that they all do not come out at the same time.

daughter doesn’t test well? no tests in 4 years of school? heard that copout forever. lots of 4.0 students out there with crappy sats. i believe it infers the kids aren’t very bright, just good at kissing up to teachers, mom in pta kissing a, . etc etc etc

Harsh stuff, JimToes. By the way, low SAT’s might “imply” that she’s not bright, but not “infer.” Only you can do that.

Also, “bright” people start their complete sentences with capitals…

They replied to someone on twitter saying those who applied regular decision will find out mid-late April to early May. I hope it doesn’t take that long!

hope everyone hears early may then have to send deposit by may 1st. in our new bizarro world since 1/09 it makes complete sense.

@BostonSportsFan‌ I highly doubt that.

Mid April to May is too late for a admission decision. All the schools I applied to required a decision by May 1st. Anyone else feel that way?

There is no way they can wait that long. Decisions and deposits must be in by May 1st.

Their website shows a bunch of admitted students events in early April. I would think they would have to send out decisions by the end of March at the latest, so RD students would have a little time to make plans to attend.

And @jimtoes I thought the point of this board was to offer information and support, not to cast judgments and vent nasty comments on people you know nothing about.

Im just saying what i saw, im sure they just say that to back themselves up incase they have any problems/delay. Im assuming realistically desicions will come out late march to april.

@jimtoes you clearly didn’t read what i said, SYRACUSE said this themselves not me. Obviously its an unrealistic date…

It use to be the Friday of spring break for the first wave and every Friday there after through April. Spring break is next week. Last year a few were notified the week before, not sure why but typically it has been the week of spring break for US students and a few weeks earlier for international students. My DD is a current student. Son is waiting on decision.

i read exactly what you said boston. you said you hope it doesn’t take that long, you obviously believed it. my point was tongue-in-cheek but your reaction shows a clear inability to laugh at your shortcomings.

My daughter never kissed up to her teachers, she worked extremely hard and was in all Honors and AP classes 3.89 GPA , lots of volunteer work, played sports and did not score well on the SAT’s. There is a reason the SAT is being changed again.

I am completely with you @nel626. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, which doesn’t always provide equal opportunity on a test such as the SAT. My daughter does really well with essays, short answers, projects - basically anything but multiple choice. I have heard that Syracuse does a more comprehensive review of each application and doesn’t just cut off for lower SAT without considering everything else first. Hoping that is the case.

I really don’t get someone that would say a student is less intelligent, or less deserving, because of one test score over the course of a student’s 13 years of school. To me that makes no sense.

Does anyone know if missing the deadline by a few weeks means your application won’t be considered or you won’t receive money? I applied last minute in late January and Syracuse is now my number one school however I am stressing that I will be denied or not receive the aid I need. If anyone knows anything let me know!!
