Syracuse University Regular Decision 2020 (& 2021)

Hey guys, here is a place to talk about the Regular Decision for those who are applying to start in 2016, and graduating in 2020, and 2021 (for Architecture and 5 year combined programs)

I applied RD on October 24. Syracuse is one of my top choice schools, and I’m really hoping to get in!! I scored a 2370 on the SAT, have a 3.7 GPA and a top 25% class rank, and strong ECs. Good luck to everybody else, hopefully we’ll all get in!!

I am just about ready to send in my application for Syracuse. I wish all of us the best of luck!

Anyone here know when the RD acceptances will be sent out? I definitely know it will be in 2016, but not sure exactly when

@loveyounot website says late march. it was released 3/21/15 for class of 2019 which was a saturday so perhaps 3/19/16? just speculation

@loveyounot Keep in mind that the reply date isn’t until May 1st. I knew people last year who found out just days before that. Syracuse is not quick about sending out decisions at all.

I’m a Syracuse Grad and LOVED it. You are so lucky to be able to spend 4 years there. My Daughter applied RD and will hear in early April (according to a woman I spoke to on the phone). She’s already been accepted to Penn State and Pitt. She applied at the end of October for RD, going in Undecided. Keep in mind that SU’s financial aid deadline is earlier than most (Feb 1). Good luck!

I sent in my application on January 1st (it was a last minute addition to my college list) and I have not gotten an email confirmation from them that they have received my application, is that normal? Have other people gotten email confirmations that their application was received?

Has anyone has trouble logging into the portal? It says I dont have access to it although I got an email with my NetID and I set up an account.

@swellssoccer - I felt the same way since I turned my application a few days before the deadline. They got my application today and I have gotten my ID and password, but they didn’t create my portal yet. -.- Anyway, be a bit patient and they will send you the e-mail notification in two days, excluding the winter break (at least that was the case for me).

For anyone who is super paranoid about getting in, here are my stats that got me accepted to Whitman (the school of management):

High School GPA: 3.0
Did not take the SAT
Had no ECs AT ALL besides a part-time job

I went to community college (Hudson Valley), and my cumulative was a 3.75. Before HVCC, I was going to Onondaga Community College and ended up with a 3.7 cumulative. I am in Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two year colleges, but other than that, I had no other ECs. For the honor society, I wasn’t even active (i.e. no chair position, etc). I DID take 6-7 courses each semester at HVCC, so maybe they took that into consideration. At OCC though, I came out with only 21 credits all together…

The year I was accepted was 2014, and they announced at accepted students’ day for Whitman that they had a 33% ACCEPTANCE RATE! So if I can get in with those stats, fear not!

Syracuse University is an awesome school academically and socially, not to mention they are super generous with financial aid. I was not eligible for need-based, but through grants and scholarships, they reduced the tuition sticker price to nearly half! I chose to attend SUNY Albany because I pay $4,500/semester, and I wanted to save for grad school. Syracuse is definitely a place I am considering.

Good luck everyone, and don’t be nervous! Also remember that it depends on the program you’re applying to. I know that architecture, Newhouse, and apparently Whitman are tough to get into. Good luck!
