Are you talking about Friday, April the 15th? Are you kidding me? How are these kids supposed to do a revisit if they’d like to? I’ve never heard of a college notifying so late, seems very disorganized to me. Is this typical for Syracuse?
Last year people received notification on April 30th. This year is a GOOD year for them. Last year there were also people who applied ED I and didn’t hear back until ED II people heard back. I wish you guys luck, but this isn’t a rare occurrence for Cuse unfortunately.
@pleaseletusin I actually applied on 31st of November. And I heard from them on 1st of March. Thank you so much!!
And I wish you best of luck for your twins
@fschil I actually heard on 1st of March. Sorry for posting it so late
I was accepted on the 1st sat 1900 into engineering school
In my opinion, everyone that took the IB diploma was admitted.
@Garyguy909 Nope, my friend and I both did the IB diploma, she was waitlisted to Engineering with a 3.7, 720 Chem SAT, 780 Biology SAT, 32 ACT
Darn, I do the diploma too. I had WAY lesser STATS, probably a 3.5 GPA & I didn’t even submit my SAT scores & I got in. Admissions in the states really are a crapshoot. @naya123
Accepted through HEOP
I know, a bit early, but ED date has passed, so why not?
If you’re like me and are applying to Syracuse RD, feel free to comment and share stats, possible major(s), emotions, questions, etc.
Good luck to all applicants btw!
DD was accepted. She’s overjoyed…
I was accepted around 4/30 last year and had just put deposit on another school. I decided to put a deposit on Syracuse and then called other school and told them I was not coming in the Fall. I lost the deposit at the other school but I am so happy with my decision to attend Syracuse. The admissions process is so slow.
Does anyone know if there is a way to increase your chances of getting off the waitlist? I read a couple of other threads and most people said that they emailed the admissions office and showed interest and eventually received their acceptance. Others said that they didn’t do anything and still got accepted.
@Vitaemint so I don’t have an answer to your question specifically–I mean I would try to contact them if I were you but I have no experience with your situation–but I do have some insight into the admissions process. I don’t know how telling this is, but every year there’s a list of colleges that still have space after ED and RD and all of that. Syracuse says that it still has space for students, but only transfers, not freshmen. Maybe your acceptance is still on the way (I suggest checking myslice because it will be available there before you receive an email) but it looks like the freshman class might be full. Sorry
This is where I got that information from: http://www.nacacnet.org/research/research-data/College-Openings/Pages/College-Openings-Results.aspx
@Syracuse19 that answer just broke my heart So even if there’s a couple of accepted students that decide to not attend, then waislisted first year students won’t be given admission? Ah it seems to me that there’s no point in waitlisting students if there’s no available space to begin with
I checked my slice and there’s still no changes. I’m hoping for the best! Do you know if emailing them at this point would make a difference? Syracuse has been my dream school for 2 years and I’m so desperate to get in that I’m willing to do anything.
@Vitaemint It’s not true I called a few days ago and asked the office of admissions if this chart is true because my daughter was also waitlisted. They told me if space was not available for fall admission waitlisted students would have received an email stating so already . As of right now they are just trying to see the available space for each program. So sit tight. fingers crossed !!
@Orange17 Thank you! Your post made me feel a lot better. June 1st is the day of my graduation so there’s going to be a lot of emotions that day! Hopefully both your daughter and I hear great news on that day!
Has anyone been notified if they were taken off the waitlist?
Notified of my acceptance off the waitlist for architecture on June 13th. There is hope! Best of luck
Congratulations to the Class of 2020! I’m a current student at the iSchool/Newhouse and a campus ambassador so feel free to message me about questions (any questions!)
