Hey guys, here is a place to talk about the Regular Decision for those who are applying for a Fall 2017 start, and graduating in 2020, and 2021 (for Architecture and 5 year combined programs) Feel free to comment and share stats, possible major(s), emotions, questions, etc.
I am! I think I’m applying as a journalism major, but I’m also considering writing and rhetoric. My gpa is a 3.53/3.64 and my sat is 1970/2240. I’ve done journalism for 4 years and held 4 editor positions. I’ve also held a leadership role for my school literary magazine. Do you guys think I could get in?
I plan on applying to CAS and it’s tied for my top choice.
I’m from Philly at a competitive high school and my parents are from Nicaragua. I have a 3.79/3.88 GPA (3.9 on a 4 scale). 26 English 25 Math 25 Reading 23 Science. I know they aren’t too good.
Outstanding extra cirriculars. Four year varsity baseball starter, volunteer flag football coach for three years, run a club with a focus on sports statistics, three time citywide National History day medalist and state competitor, School newspaper writer and sports editor, YLI Hispanic national scholar, summertime lifeguard, Spanish and History tutor at school and I even had an internship at the Franklin Institute sophomore year. (Which I never put on my common app)
I feel my essays are fairly strong as well. As a Latino with a single mother with three kids in college (I’m an Identical Twin), I’m very optimistic about my chances.
@plshelpme11 I’m a current student in Newhouse (Public Relations) and writing minor. Your GPA is a little weaker, but your SAT seems to make it up, along with your EC’s. Honestly, I’ve seen people equally as qualified as you get into Newhouse, though it’s definitely not a guarantee. I would recommend applying with a journalism major as your 1st choice, and a writing major as your second. I can verify Newhouse is INSANELY hard to internally transfer into, so I recommend either going for a double major or at least prioritizing Newhouse. Hope this helps and good luck! c:
@arosyriddle thanks so much, your reply really helps me!! i’m a little worried because i can’t apply ed or ed2, and i fear that will decrease my chances. thanks again. i thought there would be no chance at all
I just applied to Syracuse yesterday, to the CAS for poli-sci which will hopefully turn into the Maxwell School! My GPA is on a 4.5 scale, but this is what is essentially on my application.

Race: White
Religion: Judaism
Freshman GPA: 3.3500
Sophomore GPA: 3.7900
Junior GPA: 3.7900
Overall GPA: 3.6100

I visited the campus in October

Honor Roll: Regular Honor Roll for 9 quarters and Principal’s Honor Roll for 3 quarters
Wrote about my heritage for my college essay, and talked about politics & my family for the prompts.
Can someone please let me know how strong of an applicant I am to getting into Syracuse, specifically the iSchool? I have a cumulative GPA of 3.76 weighted on a 4.0 scale. My GPA has increased over the years and my junior year I ended with a 4.0 weighted and my senior year I expect to finish with at least a 4.0 weighted or higher for the 1st semester. I have also taken mainly all honors classes, have taken two math classes junior and currently senior year (in which I have A’s) and have also taken 7 classes the past two years, too. My SAT’s are low as I am a poor test taker. I took it four times and right now I have a composite score of 1150 (new SAT); 600 on reading and 550 on math. I didn’t receive my December scores yet though so this could change. I go to a pretty competitive private school in New York, as well. I also have numerous extracurriculars, including 3 sports. I also would be fourth generation in my family if I attended Syracuse, but my family that has attended are mainly second aunts and such, not parents, so it is not as direct. Thanks for the help!
Hello guys! I am an international Arch applicant.
Does Syracuse superscore ACT? Do they consider SAT2?
Thanks!
Hey! Does anyone know when we are notified of our decisions if we apply regular?
I think any time from late Feb. to mid March
Have any of you that applied within the last three of four days to Syracuse received an email reply from the college that they received your application? Not to be confused with the email reply from the Common App saying that they submitted your application.
When I applied about a month ago it took them around a week to send that email @dumbblonde13
Ya. Same as huet99
So it says on their website that regular decisions hear back by late March. Does anyone know if they release it in batches or if there will be one date that they release all decisions? Syracuse is my top choice and I’m really curious to know.
They release them on a rolling basis. Last year, some people heard in late Feb, early March, mid march, and late March. You can look at last years thread (class of 2020) to see the dates of decisions. @CathJR
does Syracuse place an emphasis on ACT writing score?
I have a higher writing score on a test with lower composite
Does anyone know the decision release date?
@RUHTRA999 according to the syracuse site…late march
Hey all. I received an invitation for the Coronat Scholarship today and was wondering if anyone knows roughly how many people are nominated for this?
@RUHTRA999 my letter said that admissions decisions will be released mid-March
