Syracuse is 45k for me. I’d have a little under 70 thousand dollars in loan debt after graduating.
Buffalo is 22k. I’d have around 5 thousand in debt after college.
I’d rather go to Syracuse, but I’m not sure if the debt is worth it.
I will be majoring in computer engineering if that makes a difference.
Anyone? I would greatly appreciate anyone’s input as I need to make a decision by tomorrow.
You sound desperate but I’m sorry that I don’t have the answer for you. But I will tell you what I’ve heard through the proverbial grapevine. My friend’s son was also looking at Buffalo for engineering, I heard Buffulo and Stonybrook are the two top SUNYs for engineering, but not quite sure about computer engineering. Syracuse has a good program, too, but I definitely did not get the impression from my friend that her son was willing to incur the debt he would incur to go there, and he even got a small scholarship. THe one thing that I always hear living in New York is that Syracuse has an unbelievable networking for jobs and that is REALLY important in this marketplace. I know Syracuse will probably be more fun socially because of the sports, but the debt that you will incur is scaring me. I really hope someone else helps you out. Good luck! You can’t borrow 70k on your own. Your parents would have to take out PLUS loans, or you would have to find a co-signer. You also don’t know whether those people would be able to qualify in future years. So be sure to verify that with their bankers too.
Buffalo would be perfectly fine. Go there & save your money.
