Im kinda torn, I really like all 3 schools

What is your intended major? Have you visited any of the campuses (they are very different)? How about scholarship/financial aid offers?

Yes, what is your intended major, and what do you want in a school?

probably history or poli sci
something along those lines

to the second post,
im not entirely sure what i want (which is why im here, haha)
rochester is a great research university while syracuse has all the excitement of the sports and the like, while fordham is in NYC

Go to NYC. I live in Rochester, grew up in Syracuse (have kept season football and basketball tickets for over 20 years). Both great schools. No doubt SU has great school spirit with their teams-but that is all they have, the teams and a mall, no joke. But when they are down, like now, the city turns on them. It, frankly, sucks. Jimmy B is responsible for all the wrongs in the world right now. Rochester, just plain boring, very, very conservative. Great school, but boring as heck.

For history and/or political science I would choose Syracuse. Most of the faculty in these majors are likely to also be faculty in the Maxwell School - the number one ranked graduate school for Public Affairs/Policy in the US. Rochester, as the previous poster indicated, is not the most interesting of places.

For History and/or political science I would pick Fordham. Those are Fordham's strongest academic areas and Fordham has a very respected law school. Also, NYC>....Rochester/Syracuse

i'm a bit biased, but i'd pick 'cuse...because i did. i'm from roch, go to SU, am majoring in policy and econ. nyc seems great but the thing is, it's such a high concentration of people with those interests that you miss out on opportunities. because there aren't many people who look upstate for this kind of thing, i'm interning at a think tank this summer and will probably be working for the HUD office in 'cuse during the year...the departments are really good about finding you placement in different opportunities. and sorry Fordham, but try to beat Maxwell in rankings! we're on top for a reason! rochester is very very pretty but has pretty bad bubble syndrome and isn't really worth the money any more...'cuse has great scholarships and practical application (and a basketball team, no thanks to mr. greene...) but good luck with your decision!

All three are very good choices. In your case, Syracuse University or Fordham University might be better choices as Rochester, although not dominated by, is best known for the sciences. And I wonder if that is where most of their resources are utilized. But I do understand your dilemma. And it is obvious that you like the state of New York.
