I didn’t see a general thread for the Syracuse waitlist for the class of 2023 so I thought I would start one. I was waitlisted recently and I plan to accept a place on the waitlist. Does anyone know how likely it is to be taken off the waitlist? I saw somewhere they have about a 50% acceptance rate off the waitlist is this true? It says that we find out after June 1, but according to past years, it seems people begin to find out as early as May 2. Also, is your financial aid impacted if you are accepted off the waitlist?
I got waitlisted too! I’m hoping to figure out before May 1st so I won’t have to put in a deposit to another school!
i really do hope it’s before may 1st!!
In past years they have accepted around 50% of the people that accepted a place on the waitlist. However, those stats do not say which schools the students were accepted to. For example, Newhouse has usually about 5,500 applications for 400 spots which is about 7% acceptance. Depending on how many kids decline those spots is what will be available on for the waitlisted kids. In other schools that have more openings the odds are much better…
@orchiduniverse usually it is after 5/1, which is why they tell you to enroll somewhere else. There have been some that have been given a spot as early as 5/2.
I was waitlisted for the college of A&S should I write my LOCI to the admissions staff for A&S or someone else?
I wonder if being full pay makes a huge difference in whether or not a student gets off the wait list. I’d guess it factors very heavily in all aspects of admissions. It would be interesting to know the difference in scores of admits that get FA vs those that are full pay.
@Kathy522 two years ago it was in april! i’m still going to put a deposit down for another school but it just sucks that i’m going to have to waste $400 on a school and then they accept me days later
@orchiduniverse which school are you applying for? I can’t find waitlist acceptance at Newhouse in the threads…
@Kathy522 vpa
Does anyone have any information or were you waitlisted on the BFA program. It is a very small program (like 20 kids I think) . I don’t know if that improves or reduces the odds of coming off. Even 10 kids on the waitlist would be a huge percentage and very unlikely.
What is an LOCI?
@BaddBadtz Letter of Continued Interest. Basically a letter/email you write to the admissions staff if you are waitlisted to demonstrate interest in the college. It can help show the school that you are serious about attending and sometimes gives you a better chance of getting off the waitlist
To which BFA program are you referring? My S was waitlisted for VPA, Transmedia, Film.
@Siena19 Thank you so much.
@BaddBadtz you’re welcome! Hope you get a place at SU
@cbpspan for transmedia film as well
anyone here for a BFA in acting?
Syracuse doesn’t have a specific place to upload LOCI, correct? I’m going to be addressing my letter to the dean and sending it through email to admissions, and I just want to make sure that’s right before going forward. Syracuse is my #1 school!
(Waitlisted from Newhouse, if anyone is curious)
@nitronicala I would send it to your regional admissions rep if you know who they are- your counselor would know.
