My S has a dear friend, female, who is really hoping to come off the SU MT WL. Any experience with movement or historical insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
Given the fact that May 1 is long gone movement off of waitlists will get fewer and fewer. There are instances where people run into emergencies and have to withdraw their acceptances but it is long shot. There are stories of students coming off of a waitlist as late as June or July but it is pretty rare. At this point she should probably make plans to move forward with whatever options she has available to her. There is always that miracle chance something will change over the summer. She could reach out to Syracuse and see where she is on the list. If it isn’t next in line she REALLY needs to move on…
Things may have changed with the waitlist there in the last four years, but once on the WL it’s out of VPA’s hands. The decision to accept off the waitlist is up to the university and they look for things that a university would want to see like more recommendation letters or awards received since applied or better test scores.
We have been tracking the Syracuse waitlist on this thread:

My D is on the waitlist for MT and has written them once a week with questions. The waitlist letter says that they won’t know if they are off the waitlist until AFTER JUNE 1. However, according to others that have posted on the Syracuse Waitlist thread, some haven’t had to wait that long. Take a look at some of the comments and follow along!
