T Marshall or Revelle for premed?

My child has been admitted to TM for human bio and plan for premed.Other acceptances include UCB & LA. Question: some claim TM is more suitable for Liberal Arts & Revelle requirement is is more geared for science/premed preparations. If, say, after admission one wants to change house to Revelle, is it viable and how is it done? Advice from insiders welcome!

It’s very difficult to change colleges. I’m a 2nd year pre-med at UCSD and I suggest staying at Marshall, Marshall is one of the better colleges. They have a dining hall, a late night eatery, decent GE’s, they have enough apartment spaces for 2nd years so no one has to live in the res halls again. I’m not sure where this whole Revelle is for pre-meds thing comes from but medical schools love to see people who immerse themselves in the humanities in addition to the required science courses, so it’s only to your child’s advantage.

Gee, that’s good advice. She is waiting for appln to medical scholar @UCSD --but it’s a long shot. If she fails, how would UC insiders comapre UCB/LA/SD premed preparation? We know Berkeley comes down on grading, resi halls and class size. What about SD and its premed choice/colleges/ faculty support/grading. Thanks for helping!

Agreed completely with the above… there are very few people who want to switch to Revelle from Marshall. Best food, pretty good dorms, GEs completely doable… a lot of good things about Marshall

My son is a 2nd year at Marshall, now living in the lower apartments and he loves it! He too is a human biology major and basically the college he is in has nothing to do with what major he chose. He is involved in BSSA and is also an officer for Global Medical Brigades. Is leaving this weekend for Honduras actually, his 2nd trip there! There are many things your son can do to get involved with pre-med clubs, associations etc… The reason my son liked Marshall is because of the location to late night food is great and their GE requirements are not as intensive. And trust me, once your son gets into 2nd year human bio classes, i.e. Ochem, genetics, bio labs etc… he will need to put all his focus on those classes!!! Good luck to him!

ooops… just reread your next post and realized our child is a daughter!! Sorry, however all the same info applies!! Good luck to her :-)
