hey guys... you know how bruinwalk has all these reviews for professors, right? do you guys know if there is anything similar for TA's? are they under the "professor" tab too? maybe a separate site?

how do we know who the ta's are when we sign up for a clasS?

sometimes you wont even know until the first day of class

I WISH there was a section for TAs....a lot of the times (most?) they're the ones that chose your grade anyways ._. Sometimes in Bruinwalk the reviewers talk about their TAs, but sometimes they don't identify them by name.

What class are you taking ktran?

I have McCloone for Comparitive Lit 2aW in the fall...if anyone has had this person please tell me about him/her!

TA ratings would get out of hand very quickly. some dont TA the same class repeatedly. some might TA for a couple quarters only, while others might TA for a couple school years. some TA's might completely suck in one class, but are awesome in another. too much variability. its not like with professors who teach the same or similar classes for several years or even decades.

the best way is to make friends with people in other TA's sections and see what they think. or even better would be sitting in on other TA's sections yourself and go from there. many TA's dont care if you attend other sections, unless their section is way too full or if attendance is required (ie if they take roll or give quizzes in section, etc).

I like the way my TA smells. :)

Never mind.

what's that nevermind about?

I agree with VTECaddict.

You can also ask TA's that you're cool with about other TA's. I've been tipped off a couple of times from nice TA's that I should not take a certain course that quarter because the TA is an idiot. This doesn't always work because they seem to all know each other (friends i guess) in the same department.

It's also stupid how the engineering department hires some TA's. For example, there is a course MAE Department MAE 182B Partial Differential. A TA in one of my courses told me that the TA for that course had never taken a class in partial differential equations. The department hired him anyway cause they needed a TA for that course. Another TA that I know actually told the professor that does the hiring that this person does not anything, but the guy still got a job despite not having a formal course in that material.

Even professors will ***** about other professors in their department.

professors dont even matter in lower div classes... i had a mediocre experience with the best history prof (teo ruiz) becuase my TA was strict
i have the 411 on most history ta let me know if u need but i aint posting their names publicly since they know me

I wish my TAs would know me really well.

The ones I posted, I've only ever talked to them in discussion.
