Is there a UCLA Table Tennis or Ping Pong club? I've been searching around, and all the club pages seem to be really outdated, and table tennis isn't even part of the club sports list. Do people at UCLA not play table tennis? I'm very interested in joining one so I sure hope there's at least a club for it :D

Anyone know anything about this? Any piece of info would be nice :D

Yes there is a club (I had the same problem). The site isn't updated but they have a facebook group. Here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2204487149

UCLA's club competes against other colleges... Were you a USATT member?

They practice Tuesdays/Thursdays 7pm at Wooden. I've never been yet but I plan to go.

Thank you!
When can I join the club? (I'm an incoming freshman btw)
Is there a particular season or does the club play year-round?
And do I need to be experienced to join? I'm not sure if I'm good enough...
And do colleges have intramural table tennis too?

I'm an incoming freshman too! I just know because I have some TT friends who are already in college.

IDK when you can join, I'm planning on just going on Tuesday and playing for fun, then I'll find out.

IDK but I'm pretty sure it's year-round, just the two regional tournaments dictate how much you would like to practice. In my opinion, UCLA's TT team isn't amazing so it should be more low key. I could be wrong though because I don't know who some of the players are. If you really want to know you should ask the Facebook group, they know.

I don't think you have to be experienced to join :).

If intramural TT is where you compete against other colleges, then that is what UCLA's team is. I don't think we have a club team, you could start one if you wanted I guess...

Hey, will you PM me if you have any more questions? I'm glad I'm not the only freshman who wants to play.

Im glad that you guys expressed some interest in the club. I am the club's VP this year. If you would like more info, feel free to contact me at bruinpong@gmail.com.

Im also working on a website right now, its going to be lauched when school starts. Don't use the old website from the studentgroups, because a lot of the info there is outdated.

The gist of it is, the club=the team. The team consists of varsity and JV players. There are usually 4 varsity players selected, and usually between 10-15 JV players, depending on how many spots for rides we have.

We have two tournaments, one in the fall at USC and one in the winter quarter in San Diego. If we win at these tournaments(Varsity), we will be able to go to nationals to compete.

The JV team is really wide in skill level, so don't worry if your rating is low or you THINK your rating is low(or if you dont have a rating at all thats fine too!). So feel free to give me a email or join the facebook group.

Thanks,
Chen

can we come tuesdays/thursdays just for fun play? Or do we have to be part of the team?

yea, i would be interested in just playing for fun...

You dont have to be on the "team", there is a club AND a team. Anyone can play in the club, as long as they join it through club sports. Feel free to email bpong@gmail.com for more info.

-Chen

Just a correction guys, the email is bruinpong@gmail.com, not bpong@gmail.com. Sorry about the confusion.

hey chen, i know actually know you.

Is anyone playing table tennis during the winter break? How do I join for the winter quarter? Thanks.

The table tennis team will be playing and the tables will be available at Wooden during Winter Quarter. If you would still like to join, you can email bruinpong@gmail.com or just show up at Wooden on Tuesday/Thursday anytime from 7-11pm. The fee is only $15 for the whole year.

thanks aznbruin1111 :P.
