Hi,

I'm a sophomore in a prestigious HS on the east coast (ranked top 10). I am trying to make myself stand out as far as sports are concerned. I do not have any as of now.

I am Indian American (parents are Indian). I was wondering: if I pick up golf now or I pick up table tennis, which one would be better?

It would be easier to achieve a higher ranking in table tennis, I think, and I play with an international table tennis player, who lives right next to me. I am pretty sure I can achieve a state ranking here...

I JUST DON'T WANT TO BE HIGHLIGHTED DOING A SPORT THAT IS PRIMARILY ASIAN-ORIENTED.

What do you think? Golf? or Table tennis?

Thanks, and I will chance you back 100%!!!

C’mon guys, bump bump* I will chance you back!!

Do what you LOVE to do. Don’t do it for colleges. Think about it. If you get rejected later on, you’ll have wasted so much effort on something you didn’t even like that much!

Golf will definitely be hard to rank highly in if you haven’t been playing since you were born. As for table tennis, that sport is for the chinese and womenly men. Honestly, it won’t look amazing to a college even if you place in state. They only care (as far as sports goes) about those they might want to recruit. I don’t know of any schools in the US that recruit for table tennis. I suggest that you focus on other ecs and your grades more so than one of these stupid sports. There are tons more ways to get into college than this. All require hard work. You can’t just half-ass your way in through some sport you picked up a year ago.
