I will be starting college in Fall '06, and I am trying to decide first if I want to get my laptop now or wait until the end of summer (right before I start school), and second, what I should get.

Can someone explain what the differences will be between current Powerbooks and the ones Apple is coming out with? Has it been determined when the new Powerbooks will be available and approximately what the price difference will be? Thank you.

MacWorld 2006 (Jan. 9th-13th.) is just around the corner. Mac newsites are guessing that Apple will make some major announcements concerning their IBook/PoweBook and MiniMac lines. Specs and prices to be determined. Some newsites suggest that there could be price drops of up to $200 on the new laptop lines. I wouldn't hold my breath on that rumor...

Since you don't need a laptop until next fall, it's worth it to wait until January to see what Apple has to offer.

It's been reported that Apple laptop sales have slowed this month and that lots of people are waiting until MacWorld 2006 before making a decision... There could be some good deals coming soon for the remaining laptops in Apple's inventory.

I'd wait until the MacTel machines are tested to see how they stack up against the discontinued G4 laptops.

I'd wait, the technology is always getting better for cheaper the longer you wait, so unless you need it now, wait.
