Does anyone use any kind of tablet to take notes? How does it work for you?

I would get the ipad with a bluetooth keyboard there is a special case that has a keyboard bulit in and setsup like a laptop i think that would work great plus it has word like applications

^i’ve used an ipad for short hand notes before in my classes. It works ok. Never have to worry about the battery or anything during class since it lasts days and days at a time. They have docks that you can set it on that comes with a bluetooth keyboard that could certainly speed up your typing though. I don’t have any experience with other types of tablets though so they may be better at notes.

I just read an article where the put the Ipad 2 verses the xoom. the xoom won but with stupid stuff like better camera. Which for you doesnt matter. the ipad one ease of use and best app store. With a keyboard i think its perfect for notes otherwise just get a laptop.

i dont think its a good idea if your planning on using your thumbs to write. If your taking a keyboard accessory well then its pointless… just buy a laptop. But if you really want a tablet to take notes the htc flyer will be the best at doing so.

I have had an iPad since they first came out, and really love it. I also have a keyboard that I sometimes use if I have to do a lot of typing. I go into classrooms and take notes (I’m a college administrator), which is pretty easy on the screen keyboard, even with my fat fingers. It feels much more discreet than having a laptop with a screen sticking up in the air.

If I were a student though, I think that an iPad (or similar) would not be sufficient as my sole computer. Students probably need something that is more versatile. I would suggest getting a MacBook Pro or Air.

the ipad is fun, but as a student, i use the macbook pro as my sole note taking instrument. i also get as many books online as possible so my laptop does everything and it is less that i have to carry… also, many teachers prefer to see the laptop over the tablet. odd, but i’ve witnessed this.

I don’t think an Ipad is an ideal tablet to take notes on. You want an actual tablet pc, one where you can turn the screen to go from normal laptop with keyboard, to a flat thing you can write on. Microsoft OneNote is also great.

I have an HP TouchSmart 2 and it seems to be the most popular tablet on campus for taking notes. I’ve never seen anyone use an Ipad to take notes in class. It’s essentially a regular laptop, with touchscreen controls, a stylus, and a swivvel screen where the screen lies ontop of the keyboard (essentially a closed laptop with the screen upside down). It’s a couple hundred dollars more than Ipad, but much more useful.

I’ve seen someone take notes in class with an iPad. He is very efficient with it (he has a case that angles the iPad up slightly so it’s easier to type on- no Bluetooth keyboard). I’m going to try taking notes with one next year, although I have a feeling i will end up writing my notes by hand like I usually do- I generally write faster than I type.
