TABS Common Application Form

<p>Am I at a disadvantage if I use the TABS Common Application Form instead of a schools own application form?
If a school accepts this form,does it matter if I use it instead of their own form?
Has anyone ever used it before?
Please Help</p>

<p>also, did your teachers get really annoyed because of all the forms they at to fill out for schools like Andover,Exeter,Choate etc. that dont accept a common app?</p>

<p>My son used the TABS forms for all of his recommendations. It’s the only humane thing to do for your teachers :slight_smile: . He also used the SSAT common app (with the TABS recs) for 4 of the schools to which he applied. I don’t think it put him at a disadvantage. He was accepted at two of those 4 schools and got a pseudo-acceptance (no FA) at a 3rd. L’ville ONLY accepted the SSAT app last year.</p>

<p>Schools wouldn’t give the option if it wasn’t actually an option. For some schools, the SSAT app will have a supplemental essay required. The rec forms are almost identical for all schools, TABS and SSAT. The advantage of using the SSAT app service is that teachers only need to send one copy directly to SSAT and they scan it and apply it to all your schools. I am unfamiliar with the TABS common app as my son only used the rec forms.</p>

<p>Reading your second post I reiterate…your teachers only need to fill out ONE form. NO school will require their own rec form. They know how valuable a teacher’s time is. Give your teachers a copy of the TAB rec, or send them a link to the fill-in pdf file that they can print out after filling it out. Give them a pre-addressed stamped envelope for each school and ask them to make copies and stuff each envelope, signing across the seal.</p>

Is there any school that accepts SSAT but not TABS?</p>

<p>My son applied to 10 schools. He used the common SSAT application for 4 of them. He used the TABS teacher recommendation forms for ALL of them.</p>

<p>I think the TABS common application is alot better than some school applications because they ask you for alot more information and it gives the schools a better picture of you!</p>
