Tackling the Blue Book

Do most of you tackle the Blue Book test by test until you run out of time? Or do you focus on your problem area in all the tests and then come back to the other sections as time permits? Can the entire Blue Book be completed in one summer in 2-3 hours a day?

I read that when students self-study and practice questions, they should always go online and read the reasoning behind the solutions. I'm just wondering how much time it takes to do all of that.

2-3 hours a day will definitely be enough time to finish the Blue Book and then some. It’s not a bad idea to go in search of specific question types, but it’s also a really good idea to take a few of the BB tests (especially the first 3, which were real tests) all at once.

You’ll have more success finding specific question types online (although they won’t be “official”) than you will finding full practice tests for free online, so if you’re willing to do unofficial questions too, you might want to save more of the BB tests for complete test simulations.

You’re correct that it’s just as important to understand your mistakes as it is to take the time to practice in the first place. If you don’t learn from your mistakes, you’re bound to repeat them.

I often tell my students to take as much time reviewing their practice tests as they took to take them. This might seem like overkill, but that level of study will produce the best results.
