Tactical training while in school?

<p>I'm trying to decide what academy chose and it looked like a lot more tactical training was given at west point. I was woindering if that training was given during school or in the summer, and if the schooling was strictly academic.</p>

<p>Mostly during summer, but for those that desire it (I am in Infantry Tactics Club) there are a variety of chose. In addition to the infantry club there is Cav Scout club and Police tactics club. In addition to shooting clubs. So it depends on what you want to do.</p>

<p>to expand a little bit - beast is in two parts. the second part is all military training leading up to a week “in the field”. Of course, CBT is always evolving and there maybe some changes ahead.
the summer after plebe year - the whole class will do 4 weeks of CFT. Cadet Field training.
There are also plenty of schools from which to choose. Most current plebes are going to Air Assault school this summer but some will go to Airborne school. There are also some other military schools from which to choose.
In addition to the clubs listed above there is the opportunity to try out and be on your company’s Sandhurst team.
You will also take required military science classes.

<p>Some tactical training our cadet went through over the last 4 years:</p>

<ol>
<li> the usual Beast summer (before plebe year)</li>
<li> The ususal summer at Buckner(following Plebe year)</li>
<li> Training with RMAS at Sandhurst England as well as in Canada (summer after Yuk year)</li>
<li>Training with Military Intel Unit of a Stryker Brigade about to deploy to Iraq at Schofield Barracks Hawaii (summer after Yuk year).</li>
<li> Various training exercises while at Air Force Academy for exchange semester (Cow Year)</li>
<li> Cadre for Beast (summer after cow year)–</li>
</ol>

<p>Tactical training is going on all the time-------(even twhen they dont’ know it) lol</p>
